Article here about colour blindness and how people see things.

I found it absolutely fascinating to see the differences.

Yes very interesting. My brother is colour blind and learning to drive was a lot harder. He had real trouble seeing the difference between red, amber and green traffic lights, especially at night where there are no other visual clues.

How did that get on the Daily Mail? It's informative, well written, well substantiated and unbiased. Seeing it on the Daily Mail is like seeing a zebra walking along a street in England.

I hope it didn't take him too long to figure out, given that you don't need to see the colours of the lights to know the scenario :p.

I have a form of colour blindness and all the comparrison images and mobike phone apps that claim to show how the world would look to be like me are extremely exaggerated on a massive scale. I think the form i have is protean or something like that. I see less red than im supposed to

I've always wondered if we see colours the same. How do you even begin to describe a colour without referencing another colour.

Maybe the red I am seeing, is in fact orange for one person, and blue the next.

Yes it's easy in the day. But when when approaching some lights at night being unable to tell the colour makes it much harder. Is that light in the near distance red or green? As it's dark you may not be able to tell until much closer whether that light is at the top or bottom. He's fine with it now but when first starting to drive he did find it harder.

my son is colour blind and I would love to see what he see's just to know.

He cannot see any green, to him all green is brown.

I've just done the colour blindness test linked in the article: http://enchroma.com/test/#&ui-state=dialog

It flagged me as a 'Deutan'

Deutans are people with deuteranomaly, a type of red-green color blindness in which the green cones do not detect enough green and are too sensitive to yellows, oranges, and reds.
As a result, greens, yellows, oranges, reds, and browns may appear similar, especially in low light. It can also be difficult to tell the difference between blues and purples, or pinks and grays.

This bit in bold in spot on for me!

Isn't there special type of glasses you can buy that gives people with colour blindness normal vision, or close to it?

That's exactly what that website is advertising, EnChroma glasses. There are some great reaction videos on youtube of people putting on the glasses.

I came off as normal in the test, thankfully! My fiancée disagrees, but then women are able to perceive a greater colour range than men.

Actually I'm surprised we don't see more accessibility options in games because I can imagine gaming being a bit of a nightmare sometimes when, say, you're waiting for a green reticle to turn red for lock or something!

if you already have a colour blindness, how would you tell which pic was referring to your condition?

I guess you would see two the same, or at least two almost the same and the others not so much?

Just tested myself and I am normal, but I know my Mrs can't see true black. She just sees a range or grey and then nothing more.

I never really thought about it, but couldn't they make glasses for colour blind people? That take the colours that we see but convert them into colours they can see so they can tell the difference when it comes to traffic lights?

Augmented reality glasses or eye implants sounds like it would be a game changer for colour blind people, could show text/icons or something for them to know the difference.

It be like life with subtitles I guess, that be interesting.
