Parking- why can't people do it?

There's going to be one of you with a longer commute, so they park in last. If your leaving time is the same there is no issue?

For us personally, times getting home and leaving can differ from one day to the next (joy's of a working life)..it makes for a more sane approach to park on the road, having to move them about for the sake of not parking them on the road is just a pain.. I'm not alone others on my street do it. Like I said, it doesn't bother me.

There's one idiot round here who has never parked his car less than 1 foot from the kerb. It's an old banger probably worth no more than half the market value, I have a feeling he's trying to get it written off.

On a similar note, the wife just sent me this picture of how someone parked behind her this morning at the super market:

No damage done, other than to move some of the dirt. Apparently he came back as she was putting her things in the car and she gave him an earful. I've never been more proud of her :D

At the end of my road is a T junction where this massive transit van always parks on the corner, because of the way the road curves and cars parked behind it you can't see anything. You just have to edge out and hope for the best, definitely going to be a crash there at some point.

Reminds me of 2 idiots that did the same both front and back of my car!! (few years ago). How the hell did they expect me to get out the mind boggles! I had to get out for work and didn't know the owners so i walked to the Police station (5min walk away) and reported both drivers.

Never found out who owned them but shortly after they were moved.

Like the fella round our corner who for no reason parks his decked golf on the road right next to his drive, on a blind corner on the crest of a hill, had more than one episode of needing to slam on the anchors going round to find someone coming the other way.

If it's like the 'dub scene' golfs around here can they even get on the drive? With how low some of them are a leaf will cause issues to them.

where he is he literally cant go anywhere in a 1 mile radius without encountering a speed bump, plus i have once or twice seen it parked on the driveway.

tbh i think he just parks there so folk get to see his "wikked sick ride", as opposed to parking say 20' down where people would be able to see to safely get round him.

not that i'm against modifying cars, but there's a line between performance and practicality.

There are a few driveways round here that people park in front of instead of using. No idea why. Can only assume it's to stop being blocked in but does that really happen? Idiots parking infront of other peoples' driveways?

Hell yes.... We're on a 40mph country road, where most people do 60 at least. Our house is on the outside of a very limited view bend... and yet you will often find people parked outside, or just round the bend, especially during the school run. Amazed how the accidents that have occurred here have never (yet) involved one of these idiots...

Thankfully our street isn't too bad as most people park on their drives. The only exceptions being my generally inconsiderate next door neighbours who parks with their drivers door in line with their garden path and the people who live opposite them as it means a multi point manoeuvre to get off of their drive because of previously mentioned morons.

Some of the other roads around here are a joke though. I'm sure it is paranoia that other people will block them in so the problem escalates. One particularly bright spark parks his work van on the corner of the junction and people also park opposite meaning that you have to commit to turning into the junction blind and on the wrong side of the road for 100 yards. I nearly flattened a kid on a bike one day and I've been pulling out and nearly had a head on smash. Thankfully most people crawl along but there are some (mainly those with young kids that play on the street ironically enough) that zoom round there in their clattery old fertility wagons.

We have issues where we are because the estate was built with general parking bays none of which are owned by any particular house. Some people obviously feel that they do own some of them which causes issues.

We have problems with massive vans as well. I find them a bit of an eye sore because you can barely see the other side of the street at times.

But the thing that is the worst is that our estate is used by commuters to park for free and then walk to the train station very close by. They literally drive for a few minutes locally to then dump the car outside our garage and opposite people's houses for 12 hours a day. You get massive American trucks, yet more vans, jags, Audi's....All sorts.

Unfortunately when the estate was built I guess only about half of most people had one car. Now the average house probably has 2. People just don't use garages for car storage either, which I understand.
