Are you ditching 1080 for 1080ti ?

Got a EVGA gaming hybrid air/water 1080. I'd love a 1080ti but Im able to max every game I play on 1440.. If I ever went crazy 4k with a ridiculously expensive monitor then I would probably still not buy a 1080ti, would be more worth it to get a 1080

I and a few friends I know will probably struggle upgrading from 1080 to 1080 ti because the 1080s are absolute monsters anyway. However it will be interesting to see what the Ti does over the 1080 or even how the vega turns out since Ryzen its probably safe to say now, hats off to AMD they have done well!

And this is NVidia's problem unless they can get every body to upgrade to 4K it is not worth paying the money (and the over inflated price.) for a top end card when playing @1080 or 1440

No not likely. If it was 60% faster then yeah ;). Likely to be 20-25% like the TXP. At current my 1080 SLI plays everything I want.

I try to keep up to date on gens so my next upgrade will be 1180's.

Couldn't justify it to myself, I'm happy with my 1080 Strix that nicely clocks to 2114.
My next upgrade will have to give me more than a 20-25% performance boost which is roughly what the 1080 Ti will give over the 1080, Needs to be at least a 50% performance increase for me to even consider it.

When I find a game I want to play that wont let me on Ultra settings then I might upgrade. Till that very long time has come the 1080 will do me fine.

You must be boom's lad.:p

Nah I just have way too much going on this year :)

Moving in the next 3 months down near London, Gotta buy new furniture, Going to Germany twice this year alone once for work and the 2nd for a family visit and then going to America in November to stay for 6 months and help a friend out with his ranch.

Even if the 1080Ti was 5x faster than my 1080 i still wouldnt buy one. They've milked me dry for atleast 2-3 years. I still game at 1080p and given the price of decent 1440p monitors i will be for some time to come!

this is one of those Kodak moments ...

you bought a gtx 1080 for 1080p and complain about nvidia milking you? You could have bought a great 1440p screen for that money and could have powered it with a gtx 970 or 980TI.

Of course you do what you want, it's your money but ...

If the performance was a significant gain over the 1080 for not an awful lot more money then I would take advantage of the EVGA step-up program. But I can't see it being much less than a grand.

At best it will match a titan, at absolute best when flogged to death with an extreme overclock.

That's not a huge step forward from a 1080. Given I 'only' have 1440p and 1080p screens at 60hz even a gtx 1080 is too much so Ill wait until 4K 100 hz screens become available and Volta makes an appearance.

Nope, will be keeping my 1080 for a wee while yet considering l have spent my upgrade money on Ryzen.
