Spec me a lifetime subscription VPN please

Pure VPN is looking the best from what I have read. They have a 3 day trial for $2.50. I may try it. Also, should I be paying in bitcoin or gift cards or is that a bit extreme?
Depends on the level of anonymity you require. For me, I just don't want the average civil servant being able to check my internet history. I guess if you're trying to avoid GCHQ's roving eyes, then you could go down the bitcoin etc. route. You would have to start using a TOR build etc. then though, for it to be worthwhile.

Ok, so paying by PayPal would be fine then for browsing and occasional downloads

Quoting your post here but aiming this at those who share this misconception.

You do realise that the "servant" (officer) accessing the data first needs a court order which requires reasonable cause and an active investigation?

As I've heard, the Police will be able to determine at a senior officer level on a case-by-case basis. Here's how one website reports it: http://www.theverge.com/2016/11/23/13718768/uk-surveillance-laws-explained-investigatory-powers-bill

Credible source or not, I don't know, but I've heard this elsewhere too.

It's not like they all sit there going through random people's browsing history for the lol's and to decide who is getting the next brew in.

I recently took out a trial subscription of 1 month to PIA. I found it pretty good so when the time came, upgraded to a year subscription.
Since then, I have noticed it a lot slower when loading webpages etc. Has anyone else experienced this, is it a hook you in then slow you down scenario?

I'm using PureVPN - I max my line with it (70/19) - The split tunnelling doesn't seem to work however which is pretty much why I got it.

You obviously don't work in I.T. :P Just to clarify: I don't do that, but I used to know plenty of people that did that sorta stuff in old companies...

The staff need ministerial approval to look at the data. You obviously don't understand that. And yes, I do work in IT.

staff yes, administrators no, well at least not in the places i worked :( but then i am talking about back pre-2000 when everyone in IT was always down the pub... That said, I look at file permissions in places today and can see exactly who can/can't see data - and there are always administrators...

but back on topic - have you costed up setting up your own VPN in the cloud? I was looking at AWS a while back and i think i worked out i'd be spending about £15 a month for my usage, but I would not have to worry about speeds being up or down depending on time of day

OK, I take it back, I tried connecting to other servers and found ones where there was barely a drop in speed.

I use the belgium option, no idea why it just seemed to work really well and it auto connects to it now.

Occasionally I have to mix it up and select a different one but seems pretty consistent.

Been with PIA for over a year and haven't found this. I even tunnel all my traffic (minus a few exceptions) via PIA at router level using pfSense. Never misses a beat.
