Shots fired outside parliament - Please refrain from speculative and antagonistic posts

Why on earth wouldn't they treat it as terrorism until they know more? Correct move.
it is terrorism, question is rather what motivates it? Was it an isolated event? Is something bigger going to happen? Is this a distraction?

Need to stop reserving terrorism as a term for muslims and call it what it is imo.

doesn't matter about the motive or the skin colour/faith. An act like this is a terrorist act.

some individuals on GD seem to think the world smells of roses and that you cant call a spade a spade, even when its right in front of their eyes.

Whose eyes? Yours? Can you show me?

The only description we've had so far is an Asian man in his 40s. Asians don't make Islamics do they? Or are we conveniently forgetting this for the sake of blaming something when we have absolutely no idea who it really was?

I don't know. I'll let the usual islamophobes do their thing and run around in circles panicking whilst I wait for actual concrete information on who carried out this atrocity.

I know, I think you're interpreting my post at face value, I wasn't being serious, if you look further down GD I made a thread the other day expressing dismay at the father of an attacker blaming his son's actions on drink and alcohol. I don't literally believe that weed and alcohol are credible reasons for an attack like this.

In that case I apologise, but I didn't see your thread, and there was nothing jumping out at me that you were being sarcastic.

Come again? Surely you confirm in some small way it's a terrorist incident first?

I imagine there are some protocols which trigger other things into action by declaring it as initially a terrorist incident. Best to be sure than to be offguard on a second incident happening

Frankly those talking rubbish about Islam / far right / SNP need to show some respect until some facts come out - seriously you need to grow up

People are just hedging their bets at the moment. We do not know for sure.

If you were going to put your money down, where would you place the blame?

"the unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims."

C'mon it's aimed at the house of parliament, it is safe to assume that on some level there is a political motivation....

But terrorism used to mean the irish too, why it's exclusively reserved by some for more middle eastern religions i don't know.

well I think stabbing a policeman outside parliament after running over a bunch of people makes it quite likely

I blame the bloke with the knife - that's the facts we know at the moment. when something else comes out I'll amend my view

It isn't but have the ira got a history of suicide attacks?

Everyone speculates. Everyone has already asked themselves why and who. Some of those people don't want to voice their answer.
