I'm not sure people get a 'kick' out of it... it is what generally happens re: news stories in a general discussion forum, it is entirely normal. Look at the earlier news story today on a less controversial subject - Thames Water getting a fine... it is what people naturally do - they speculate. I'm not sure anyone is getting a kick out of anything, they're simply discussing the subject at hand. *** removed ***.

They usually are outside Parliament I thought, though if this particular policeman wasn't then that is tragic. They certainly should consider arming all police guarding sensitive locations such as that.
With every person you know having a camera phone, some inconsiderate donk is going to do that, hardly surprising.
It's not quite like that though, if this place could have a reasonable discussion about these sorts of incidents then mods wouldn't need to be so strict, but it generally can't and on past experience the thread would descend quite quickly into generic Muslim/Islam/Immigrant/Refugee bashing and we end up with the rubbish like the American tweets Greebo posted.
So they end up getting moderated quite heavily
What ? The public here aren't armed like America. It'd be completely different.

Police around Westminster are armed.
I don't support routine arming of the police but the comparison with America is completely baseless. There are plenty of other countries with armed police services that don't suffer the same issues the US does.
