Shots fired outside parliament - Please refrain from speculative and antagonistic posts

What's the point in the speculation? Why do people get such a kick out of it? And what is gained by doing it?

I'm not sure people get a 'kick' out of it... it is what generally happens re: news stories in a general discussion forum, it is entirely normal. Look at the earlier news story today on a less controversial subject - Thames Water getting a fine... it is what people naturally do - they speculate. I'm not sure anyone is getting a kick out of anything, they're simply discussing the subject at hand. *** removed ***.

Christ... arm the damn police already !

They usually are outside Parliament I thought, though if this particular policeman wasn't then that is tragic. They certainly should consider arming all police guarding sensitive locations such as that. :(

I'm in That London today and sitting in the 1st class lounge at Euston. They have just played the "Inspector Sands" message for 2 minutes....

It's not quite like that though, if this place could have a reasonable discussion about these sorts of incidents then mods wouldn't need to be so strict, but it generally can't and on past experience the thread would descend quite quickly into generic Muslim/Islam/Immigrant/Refugee bashing and we end up with the rubbish like the American tweets Greebo posted.

So they end up getting moderated quite heavily

I would imagine that part of London has the highest number of armed police.
