How many halal chicken shops does a high street need?

They die either way, it is not that important on the grand scale of things. Human life is more important and we would focus on eliminating poverty and child cruelty first.

Humans first, animals second. Banning certain methods of slaughter will affect humans so no it's not that important.
More bizzare arguments. Like this would take any resources away from human rights and welfare.

Ahh I see it's turned into the usual ban halal/religious type of thread.

Always every single time it ends up like this :/.

Who cares if there are too many halal chicken places on the high street...is your lives that insignificant that you have to come onto a forum to tell us this amazing but frankly useless news??

I do despair for the OP and others who think like that.

Big deal and honestly more the merrier because you can have chicken from every shop for every day of the week:p

It always ends up like this because the majority of the country think this, big surprise. (Well perhaps not the instances of these shops, that's a bit specific, but halal)

I don't think that's right. There are certain Sharia laws applicable to animal slaughter and the Prophet certainly thought animal welfare was important. Whether Muslims follow the rules is of course another matter.

ITT: People who think that the battery-farmed chicken used in their 99p chicken burger would have been killed humanely if it wasn't for those pesky Muslims.

you're making an assumption which just isn't true
you do realise animal welfare is a big subject and many of us are interested in far more than just halal

I think if the word 'halal' hadn't been present then this thread would have been a fair bit shorter:

Anyway run down inner city areas are typically full of chavs, chavs are often fat, lazy and poor - fried chicken is a cheap meal for them, even though they've often got plenty of time to actually cook for themselves.

You'll find lots of muslims concentrate themselves among other muslims within certain inner city areas of London, Birmingham, Bradford etc.. the chicken shop will want to appeal to them too and the chav customers are pretty ambivalent to halal/non-halal (they just want the fat greasy goodness) so making it halal is a no brainer.

You'll also find plenty of betting shops in run down areas - these are again there to cater to the local chavs.

The 'halal' thing is simply a sensible business decision.

(on the sidetracked discussion about this - yes obviously it is cruel and probably should be stopped but shops will carry on selling it unless there is a public backlash. The government won't do anything because: muh religion/Islamophobia etc..)

Because many of them are fronts for organised crime, mainly drug dealing and the trafficking and rape of children.

Or, more likely, because they're cheap to run and since many have Asian owners they can always find cheap labour from those new to the UK (including obviously illegal immigrants). And also because fried chicken sells a lot because people like it - it's cheaper than KFC.

Or they could just be selling meat that has been killed in a way that means Muslims can eat it.

It dosnt bother me but its a nightmare trying to find a Halal restaurant sometimes out with mates, much easier in big city's but when we work away in the sticks really limits where we can eat, funny sometimes to see the big lads have to resort to a salad when im munching a big steak.
But respect is due i have no religious convictions and i respect the people that stick to it, ive met a few Muslim lads that were out drinking and partying with us.

edit and i dont care how they kill the chickens as long as it dosnt involve shagging.

Anybody else notice the same usual deflect and defend posters, i am sure it is one poster :) one comes along and defends\deflects for a few pages and then flees the scene, then along comes another and rinse and repeat.

You would be an expert at that tactic, wouldn't you?
