That's because you redlined it at every maccies meet m8

Not quite, but I did give it a bootfull more often than I should have done. Buzzing it to the redline was addictive.

I have no idea what half these cars being posted are, could people at least post the car too

Mr Whites is a current gen Mustang GT 5.0, Killsta's is a 370Z, I'm talking about an E30 325i but I haven't driven it even 1500 miles yet, and it doesn't have a computer. The Corolla is a T-Sport, but I don't have it anymore.

So if I've covered 4999 miles on my trip, fill up, then drive 2 miles and post my average, I'm OK?

Are you sure you're real?

What does filling up have to do with your mpg?

So lets make it simple. You have 4999 with an average mpg of 40 for example. What difference will it make whether you fill up or not to your 5001 mile average? I am completely lost here.

Why isn't the figure for that 330e at the top of your leaderboard?

TBH this is only fun with very un-economical cars (e.g. getting a v8 over 30mpg) . Or the other way round...seeing how low you can get an ecobox to go :D

I really dont understand why all these expensive (premium?) cars only have one trip computer? All the Vauxhalls I've owned have had two. I use one for 'whole life' - i.e. until I give the car back, and one for each tank.

Anyway, I'll dig out some data shortly.

They do have two?

There is one 'for life' one which you can reset as and when you wish and another 'journey computer', intended to record journey based stats not long term ones, which you can either leave alone, reset as you wish, or set to reset automatically if the car has been unused for more than about 6 hours.

Only the latter records mileage and average speed since reset. For the former there are separate mpg, trip counter and average speed measures which are independent of each other.

The Vauxhall have two of the latter type. Very useful.

Right, so here's my data:

1968 Pontiac Firebird:

Vauxhall Insignia 1.6T 170PS (petrol):

Vauxhall Insignia 1.6T 170PS (petrol):

Vauxhall Insignia 2.0 cdti 170PS auto:

Vauxhall Astra 1.6 cdti 136PS auto:

Vauxhall Astra 1.6 cdti 160PS BiTurbo manual:

Current car: Vauxhall Insignia 1.6 cdti 136PS manual:

NB: all of the Vauxhall data is from the car being new (i.e. delivery mileage only). As you can see, it improves once the engine loosens up a little.
