Doom - PS4 / Xbox One

Thanks for the tips. Still struggling with Death From Above though. Man doesn't seem to jump high enough to do be able to do it.

Ah. It seems to work when you do the double jump which I was forgetting.

Hmm, this is interesting. I made a game clip of some Doom play last night. When I watch it back on my PC monitor via the Xbox website, it looks fantastic. Everything seems sharp and there are actually black shadows! A massive difference compared to the TV where everything looks washed out. So obviously the TV is not set up right. I have something to work on...
 
Looked great on my plasma on both consoles. The Game setting on my TV turns all the bells and whistles off but it does wash out the colour - I just fiddled with the contrast etc until I got it right to how I wanted it and saved as a custom Game setting.
 
Been playing through Doom 3 on the PS3 and noted that the "baddies" from Hell/Mars have never yet made it to Earth in the games. Counselor Swann in his dying speech talks about Earth being their ultimate goal and that they were from here once.

I would love that to be a sequel. The Doom monsters roaming about in London or something.

They did make it to earth. That was the plot for Doom 2 :)

But yeah a modern version would kick ass!
 
Level design in this is good but I'm so bored of it already.
At the Kadingir Sanctum but doubt I'll actually play this through.

I'm with you..bought this on all the hype..have not played it much..but even the first few levels have felt like rinse repeat.

After playing the TitanFall2 campaign, this feels VERY meh.
 
It really does, TF2 was superb. Even the new CoD campaign engaged me more than this. Still, the fluid gunplay is fun but not enough to engage me.

I was more interested in finding the collectible items than shooting things but I thought it was all fun. The baddies didn't look anywhere near as good as their Doom 3 counterparts though.

That was the original plan for Doom 4 but it evolved into the new Doom. There's a three part documentary thing on YouTube about it :).

I loved the new Doom, great change of pace from the majority of modern games.
 
Finished on Ultra Violence! Made it a personal mission to get everything - every kill, every secret, etc - Done! It gave me the "Nook & Cranny" achievement :)
 
So fed up of this game.

  • Enter area
  • Get locked in area
  • Enemies spawn
  • Kill enemies
  • Area unlocks
  • Enter new area
  • Rinse & repeat

Anyways, I think I'm finally at the last boss, some big ugly spider looking thing that Olivia (I think that's her name?) turns into. But damn, I can't for the life of me kill her - any tips? I can only manage to get her down to about 25% health until most of my ammo is depleted, including the BFG.

Shame you're not liking it, I'd advise going after the secrets it adds an extra element...

  • Focus all attacks on the brain, whether its upright or upside down
  • chaingun then plasma to keep up a constant barrage, then move onto gauss and triple rockets and by then she'll have spewn out a periodic load of ammo
  • jump the first laser, duck the second
  • get on the platforms to avoid the electric floor, then get off at the right point to avoid them becoming spikey
Thats it really, took me about 10-12 attempts on UV so not impossible, but yes it's a beast!
 
Attempting to play multiplayer on this tonight.

When I try and open multiplayer menu I just get 'Connecting...' on what seems an infinite loop until 10 mins later I get into main MP menu.

Anyone else getting this? :(
 
Managed to get on multiplayer. Played some TDM.

Wow. Brilliant fun.

Great servers, great hit reg, no BS TTK. A game where someone can have the drop on you and you still have the chance to win the duel. It has mostly no ADS (just 1 weapon or so). This game is brilliant online. Takes me back to my quake days.

Maps are great. Gameplay elements are fun too - demon spawns anyone?? :p

Played some BLOPS3 beforehand. What a laggy mess. Cant believe I finished the SP of this and never really touched MP.

Doom TDM is now my go to online MP shooter! Lol :p
