Madeleine McCann investigation 'cost £10 million to date'

Frank Herbert was the one who dune it.

This makes a lot more sense than all the idiotic anti-McCann conspiracy theories floating around.

I think as far as common sense goes the alleged actions of the McCanns is extremely dodgy and points to some kind of a cover up, the law though requires evidence and proof much of which is missing due to the aforementioned actions and obstructions taken by the McCann's.

Problem is the Portuguese police bungled the whole investigation.

Difficult to get anything approaching concrete evidence now.

And the mccanns know it.

From all the info i have seen, i believe she was dead very early on in their holiday and they were formulating a plan before reporting her missing to the police.

^^ For example.

People are saying that because it happened in Portugal, UK child neglect laws don't apply etc so they can't be charged, but by that logic surely no UK police time should have been spent on the case either? Leave it to the Portuguese to spend £10 million+ on... somehow I don't think they would have done.

The entire thing is a farce.

No. The British police were involved because British citizens were involved. This does not change the fact that the McCanns were not under British jurisdiction during their time in Portugal. Since the Portuguese police proved to be breathtakingly incompetent, it's fortunate that their British counterparts chose to help.

Fortunate, in what way?
Thus far we have zero results.
The unfortunate thing, is their brand of enquiry didn't at least yield some collateral results, bust up peado rings, or discovery of other children or trafficking network.

Shame. I'd hoped we would get good collateral results even if they didn't find the girl, thus far that doesn't seem to have occurred.

Fortunate in that the investigation had some input from highly skilled professionals. Who knows how many rabbit trails the Portuguese police would still be running down if the Brits weren't there.

Is this some sort of sarcasm?
They've got no one, arrested no one, found nothing in either investigation.
Best the Brits managed was crimewatch photofit of Jerry McCann, which another bloke came forward and identified himself and his living daughter as being the people placed at the scene.
So they managed to excluded one totally unconnected person.

I'm convinced Evangelion is just trying to turn this into a comedy thread since post #219. It's not just me who's picked up on his comedy attempts either.

But it was the Portuguese who messed up the investigation in the first place, and would have kept messing it up if the Brits hadn't got involved. They did so many things wrong at the start, it simply beggars belief.

At least the McCanns have been cleared. That's one good thing the investigations have achieved.

Nice how you pick your own starting point lol. How about you go right to the start when they abandoned their children in a dodgy hotel room to go to a secret party to indulge in food and alcohol for SEVERAL hours, with "friends" for goodness sake.

This major part of it just seems to go over your head and you seem to always be quick to absolve them of their stupid actions. Do you want to make it seem OK to take your kids along with your "mates" and then lock them in a cheap hotel, crank the window, and then go partying with said "mates".
