Court Summons (Council Tax)

For everyone who's jumped on the band wagon.... I've never once in 18 years missed a bill payment in my life from the age of 16. Worked 37+ hours from that age including education.

Before some of you judge I think you need to think.

Cleary you have missed a payment.

So someone says money is spent on park maintenance. I say they recently "maintained" the local park but there's still broken glass on the footpath. And you say I need to read a breakdown of charges?

Are you mad or just trolling? How will me reading a breakdown of charges mean the broken glass gets cleaned up during park maintenance?
I'm saying your whole rhetoric through the thread about costing million quid to empty a few bins is so far off the mark.

And what has psychological manipulation got to do with anything.

Correct, if any of you remember I lost my job last year and found another one 5 months after. But nice too see you all jumping on the band wagon as usual.

I also do pay by direct debit and I also never said anything along the lines of I wasn't going to pay.
So if you were unemployed and couldn't pay council tax, why didn't you claim benefit to cover the council tax?

Oh great so why not just say that initially? lol.

Psychological manipulation has got to do with everything. Maybe you should be reading up on cognitive sciences instead of telling other people to read silly doctored council tax leaflets (which funnily enough are doctored to make you think it's impossible to live without a council doing some of your mundane life tasks). Maybe start with some Noam Chomsky.

Apart from anything else, don't you get three or four reminders before you get a summons?

I got a summons letter 2 weeks after the direct debit was to be taken out, no funds to cover that payment so thats why it didn't get taken out. HOWEVER. I did call up my council to tell them I couldn't afford it that month a full month before that due payment. They said thats fine and thanks for telling us and they basically split the non payment amount into equal amounts and added it onto the remaining payments to be taken out up till January. Something like an extra £12 per month on top of my usual amount. This was a few years back. Basically it was the councils fault I got the letter as the amended payment plan was setup a month before it was due.

To be fair, If I am right Derby has 15 collection lorries, (general waste and recycling ones) say 5 lads on each lorry (driver and 4 bin men) on £21k (I know one and hes on that amount) this is just over £1.5m per year. Add on maintenance etc and you have an even higher cost to refuse collection.

Again, mowing a park lawn is about £10-20 and they don't even do it every single year.
Mowing a park is a heck of a lot more than £10-£20! I have 2 fairly large parks near me and the grass on both is never more than around 5cm, so it gets mown a lot more than once every few years.

Do you know how stupid your comments sound? If they really only cut the grass in your park "not even every single year" it would look like a jungle.

Wtf do 4 bin men do?! We have a driver and two on the wagons round here and they seem to manage just fine.

It's Asim, no he doesn't. Go read a book on the psychology of park lawn mowing then you'll understand that you don't even need to mow the lawn.

Well your council is dire then, my council cuts the grass every 2-3 weeks during the seasons of grass growth. Much too the annoyance of my hayfever I might add, but it looks a damn sight better.

Don't want to pay council tax, then find a country that doesn't have it. Do you realise how many green areas most local councils are managing etc.

Nonsense. It takes 1 hour tops That's about £7.50. They don't send out epic garderners or something lol. It's a guy on lawn mower with 4 wheels, a load of fuel and a steering wheel lol.

I don't care how stupid I "sound". I'm just being realistic here. You're the one massively overestimating "park maintenance" even when they don't even clear up broken glass from years ago.

Cookoo. Cookoo.

You must have a crap council then. Obviously Derby is a great deal smaller than East London where your avatar says your based but we have a lot of parks here. The ones I go to are immaculate. During the grass season like Ace modder says I see them out quite a bit and it takes a lot longer than an hour to cut the parks around me. How long do you think it takes to mow the grass at Aintree race course? Seriously, how long would you think it takes?

15 mins with a tab break in between and it costs 3.50. They do it on a magic mower which runs on air, doesn't have any replaceable parts and they don't have NI or pension contributions made. There is also no admin to coordinate such things, they just mysteriously know it needs doing. There is no management. No HSE.

Just Frank and his mystical mower.

Is this some sort of NLP designed to make us think you're not posting absolute tripe?
The difference is that I'm not here to milk anyone's money. I'm just posting experiences. The park was closed for a whole day for maintenance, nothing happened, and the broken glass is still there. That is real weather you like it or not.

I've just done some quick googling and I don't believe that grass is owned by the council. It's privately owned.

Realistic... yet somehow you've managed to include a ride on industrial lawn mower with a tank of fuel for £2.50. How does this lawn mower get to the park, does it teleport for free? Do they maintain themselves when not in use? Are they stored somewhere that is free?

Yes, in magical Asim land they are!
