Selling a broken car

Can you not arrange to get it somewhere reliable / trustworthy, local to where the car is and have them do the work? Then, when it's finished, you get the train there, pick it up, and then sell it for the £2k?

All it'll take is a bit of research on appropriate forums / facebook groups / here looking for recommendations local to the car, then a couple phone calls and a train ticket.

Bank breakdown cover usually only recovers your car within 10 miles, or to the nearest garage. But that should be enough to get it somewhere who can do the work for you.

Depends which bank your with on the distance they will take you.

That's essentially what landed me in this situation in the first place. :(

Hardly reliable or trustworthy if they told you they were in Reading and it turns out they were in Kent.

That's the issue, how do you ever know if someone is reliable or trust worthy and not just a massive **** like this guy?

I did search before chosing them and they seemed decent, but turns out they arent.

Which is what prompted to me to ask on here for reputable places to sell to, as my own research has already proven to be a waste of time. :P

I blew the engine up on an old car, put it on gumtree for what I thought was a fair price for it to go quickly, posted add at 10:09am, had a call at 10:11am from a guy who said I'll come and get it, he came an hour later and took it away.

I'd pay to get the car back home, then advertise it for sale declaring the faults. At least you can then charge the battery and show prospective buyers around the car and show the engine is sound.

Not wanting to fork out any more money on it is understandable but you should get it back home first.
