**** The Official Note 4 thread ****

I don't know, my note4 does like to slowdown in places I don't want to. While it's usable, it's definitely showing its age.

Don't expect note 8 to be better spec wise, it might get 6gb ram and maybe better camera (is this really needed though? It's amazing already and if you're serious about photography get proper camera). sd835/exy8895 is what will power it, there is no doubt about it unless they delay it massively and release in Q1-Q2 2018 instead in which case it could get a new chip. No other phone coming this year will have better SoC than s8.

The s8 will last a while until we get proper next upgrades in 2019+.

Never really had any slowdown with my Note 4 - had some glitches with it (where it goes unresponsive then reboots itself) but so far its still working :s

I think the most likely changes to the note 8 will be 6gb of ram..dual camera and maybe fingerprint under the screen.

I've had the occasional random reboot on mine too. Sod's Law, it happens when I'm doing something time-critical on it lol.

I have googled it and apparently it can be caused by the SD card and a format may resolve the issue. Still got to try that.

Seems to happen mostly on mine with rapid temperature changes - went from a warm house to out in the garden a couple of months back when it was like -3C outside and when I pulled it out to use it it was only partially responsive and then restarted and then did the same about an hour after I went back inside when I next went to use it and was working fine for ages before and after that.

Was planing to get the s8+ but couldn't hold out also coming from note 4, I then get the lenovo p2 instead and it's night and day speed wise and they way P2 handle multi tasking! And it's only 200 odd quid compared to s8+. Some short comings that doesn't bother me are, not as good as note 4 when handling multiple Bluetooth sources line car audio and my watch etc. Camera is average or worse than note 4 not a big issue here. Battery is king here though. Think I'm done with high end phones.

Not that impressed with the camera on the Note 4 TBH - in a lot of scenes even with a bit of tweaking there is a "chalky" look to it - the only time I've really been impressed with it is when biased with certain LED lighting.

Don't feel obliged to get s8 plus just because note was big, like I've said in my review, the normal s8 is basically as good as note4 screen size wise and it allows for smaller fonts etc. The screen quality is better as well.

I had my s8+ delivered Friday, thought I would order one as I'd just had my note 4 stolen again.

After messing with it over the weekend im still not sure whether to keep it or return and wait for my note 4 insurance replacement. I would love the note 8 to be epic but cant see much else they will change?

The screen is indeed very nice as everyone has said, and the camera is great, but really I don't know where the extra value is over the note, its a lot of cash to spend to take a few better pictures and then do everything else the same.

Can't see myself going back from s8, it just runs everything so much better. Sure if all you're doing is just WhatsApp, Facebook app and make calls then it's fine but I found the n4 struggling if you try to multitask, the s8 is just so much quicker and better in everything, even 4g and Wi-Fi are faster on mine.

Picking up note4 feels like holding a Nokia 3310 now, yes, it does calls and text messages as well but you wouldn't want to use it. I like the smaller size as well.
Almost 3yrs out of a handset is a good run still.

I have to wonder what some of you do to the phone :p mine holds upto multitasking, etc. fine - 4G maxes out whatever is available and wifi performance is good, though admittedly a touch behind the top tier mobile/tablet devices for wifi performance but only talking single digit percent difference.

EDIT: Hmm having a quick google shows some rather mixed wifi performance benchmarks for the phone - some have it way out in front of almost all other comparable devices while others struggled to get past 20Mbit with their handset - wonder if there are issues with certain firmwares or something.

I've had router problems with Wi-Fi recently and had to drop to 2.4ghz only as I live in very old house with bunker walls - my note struggles to get 10-20mbit in my bedroom and the s8 was getting 60mb at the same time, same conditions, same settings.

Obviously if you're standing next to router on 5ghz both will pull 220mb but over long distance and obstacles in Wi-Fi saturated area the s8 seems to handle the signal much better.

It's much quicker with multitasking as well, the edge panels help and double tap between recent apps is a godsend, multi screen is also better with the aspect ratio.

Uh oh...the other day my phone randomly rebooted itself and took a really long time to come back on. I had to pull the battery out actually. Ever since then I've gotten random but quite frequent complete lockups where it completely freezes and won't respond to anything for about 5 seconds.

Just now it locked up, and then reboot itself :(:(:( I've already wiped cache/dalvik, but that didn't have any effect. I'm gonna have to try a full wipe probably this weekend, but I'm guessing it's on its way out? Anyone any ideas how much it would cost to fix (no warranty, I bought it second hand)?
