**** The Official Note 4 thread ****

Has anyone encountered some problem with the IR blaster? Mine has stopped working yesterday and it's quit annoying. Any solutions?

One thing I have noticed (alongside my N4 seemingly getting worse) after going to mainland Europe for a few days, is my deteriorating signal with 3. Every day I seem to get a complete loss of signal and data randomly which I have never experienced like this before. I thought it might be something to do with my ROM or modem but didn't have a single issue abroad.

Any one using any new/updated ROMs? I am Dr Ketan's but unsure if it's the ROM, the phone or Android as my phone is falling apart:

  • General lag across the board e.g. I double tap on the home screen to open WhatsApp which is usually instant but it can take seconds now and is getting slower
  • Random brain fart moments where it just goes skitz
  • The camera is acting weird - gives this underwater ripple effect sometimes or won't focus for a while
  • Battery life is abysmal, I am constantly needing to charge
At this rate I might have to do an insurance claim as it just seems to have given up. Checking out XDA now but there always seems to be some deal breaker of a problem with each ROM.

Finally considering replacing my note 4, with something newer. However, the new note is announced in 2 days, so looking to see if this affects the S8/S8+ deals available on EE.

The phone is still performing ok, some odd moments now and again, but nothing too major.

It's a tragic shame to see something as good as the Note4 fade away. Mine, which was given to my father (after I moved to the 6P) was an absolutely fantastic performer right upto the point of it's death. The screen was suberb, as was the camera. Even my father who dislikes phones loved it for the stylus. The Moto G4 that I bought him afterwards is no where near as good but it was a good buy overall.

Iirc Mazuma Mobile gave me £74 via bank transfer for the device so that was some consolation.

Mmc read fail is more a question of when, rather than if. First thing I'd do is get a stock Rom on there and monitor the battery life. You'll know if the mmc is faulty as it'll randomly reboot more and more and eventually reboot to the read fail message.

Fresh install with a stock(ish) ROM. Seems to be running fine, updated modem/bootloader has helped with signal, battery just as shocking.

I guess it's out of warranty then?

Mines sitting on my desk draw without a screen. Can't justify the cost of a new screen unless one pops up second hand or something

Mine is under warranty, had it since new. Samsung claimed the phone had been tampered with, they said it had been opened and then sealed incorrectly so they wont touch it. The phone had never been opened, rooted or tampered with in any way. Disgusted.
