**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ Thread ****

So I got the S8+ a few days ago. Personally I'm just not really feeling the hype. Physically the phone looks too long and narrow. And still in bright sunshine it's a b*tch to see the screen. Going to send back and stick with my Note 4.

Is it just me?

what? the screen is incredibly bright even in direct bright sunlight, it has been one of the things ive been most impressed with. It has the brightest screen of any phone ever made?

Well the update managed to create my first issue with the S8. Since the update I've connected my Wireless Beats to the phone and the sound is very very faint even at full volume.
Plug a normal set of headphones in and it works fine...All working well before the update as well!

*EDIT* Turns out audio sync went to OFF after the update, all done again :)

I'm having a job finding a case which separates the fingerprint scanner from the camera lens. Such cases exist, but they're either:
1. Not in stock.
2. Coming from Hong Kong with ten days delivery time.
It's my preference to order from Amazon (Prime) since I work from home and cba to make the trip somewhere to buy one over the counter. The Samsung clear case would be ok, but isn't in stock for another week.

Try This

Unfortunately since note7 it's now the S series that are ahead and notes are simply following :(.

Hope the s8 will serve me as well as the note did and if not will flog it towards end if year and see what the competition has to offer.
It's a good thing that the S leads the way, it means the Note inevitably ends up being the best (android) phone for the year (general consensus, not universal truth).

Bad news:
Because I didn't pre-order, my order won't ship until the 28th :/ :/

Good news:
I have the keyboard cover, official clear (dark) case, and the new convertible wireless charger on the way

0.8mm and when it's on it feels very minimal. Adds no bulk effectively and doesn't detract from the look more importantly.

If you have a black S8 be sure to order the Dark version of the case.

I've got the Orchid Grey one, so I'm not sure how well it will go with the Black one. Not sure about the violet and silver ones. Might order them all when they're in stock to see which suits better.

Yup it sure is as it's colour is Black :)

Should have been more specific instead of saying dark :p

Ha cool! Will see if I can justify it along with the VRS design one I've already got and the Noreve pouch I've got on order lol

Might wait for the prices to drop in a few months and use these two for now

Noticed a slight annoyance if you can call it that.

I've got the always on display on and facial recognition on.

Let's say i get an email, i get the little mail icon on the on display screen. So i press the home button to view the notification/lock screen but boom, facial recognition kicks in and I'm on the home screen where i now need to swipe down to see the notification.

1st work problems i know :)

It is, but I wanted a bit more. It's not really that much brighter than my Note 4, especially when I put the Note 4 on "auto" as it goes extra bright in sunshine (more than you can set manually). For sure the S8+ being waterproof and usable in the rain is a big advantage.

I also had the Samsung clear case, nice thin fit, doesn't add any bulk.

Also just one thing before I forget, when you look at the S8+ in different angles the screen colour changes, can be a blue or red tint. Straight on it's fine, colour as expected.

Yeah I've noticed this with facial recognition, it's pretty quick.

Also, if you didn't know you can double tap the icon to open up the relavent app (Gmail etc)
