I think I made a drunken mishtake lol

so I have a 980ti g1 gaming wf3 card and while looking on ebay last night for a waterblock I saw a buy it now for 1070 asus dual oc for £230 only 4 days old..i bought it without thinking.

did I make a mistake?

my 980 ti scores 6568on timespy and I think is the fastest ti on that benchmark on here matching the 1070's.

I feel I might have made a mistake so hoping you guys can pat me on the back and not point and laugh at me lol

should I keep the 1070 or 980ti?

many thanks
a still tipsy man :(

They both perform similarly, with the 1070 having a small edge.

But on the bright side your 980Ti should be able to sell for £220-£240 on members market or on eBay they usually sell for around £280.

Try the 1070 and see what you think, then ebay which ever card you don't want, I'd buy it now on the 1070 for a similar low price though, and it should move really fast again :P

ok thanks for the help guys

don't have accss to mm so gumtree or ebay lol

does the 1070 use less power than the ti?

thanks

ok well that settles it then I think, same performance for less power.

the only drawback I can see is I don't see any waterblocks available for the asus dual 1070,guess its AIO route.

many thanks

People are going easy on you. It was a fail, and you know this else you wouldn't have asked. You can't justify it with the power consumption.

I've been prone to a few side grades myself, so not criticising you... ;)

oh I pretty much thought it might be after looking at the benches,oh well **** happens.

I sold my ti anyways just now for £240 so I'm £5 up and have a 1070,im stuck with it now.

I know dan...I made a booboo lol

did you see the timespy score on it too :(

I was honestly trying to find a waterblock for it on ebay and the 1070 just popped up buy it now and in a warm fuzzy tipsy state..i clicked the buy it now,my head had zero control of my fingers and for some reason I thought the 1070 would be an upgrade lol.

I wouldn't say its a fail, £230 for a 1070 is a cracking price, id just sell the Ti, then the 1070 would have cost even less, and its got 2GB more vram, and it'll be better in newer games.

for that price you did a good thing that you bought it. Once you sell your TI, this will be basically free. You get a newer gen card, more memory, more power efficiency, all these things matter and even if the cards are about the same level of performance that will probably change over time. However you look at it, you did a good thing so don't worry about it :)

As is Asus dual is just an aweful aweful card, the child Asus kid away and strix and Poseidon always got the lime light. You'll see the ram chips aren't even cooled by a heat sink of any form :(
Had strix and dual for builds, couldn't believe there difference in build between then
