Ok I've decided to buy one 1080ti

After sli'ing for the past 6 years I decided to not go sli no more due to the lack of support ect

I know there is no 1080ti version of the EVGA Classified/KingPin or MSI Lightning or the Asus ROG MATRIX so im thinking the only other cards are:

Anyway I've decided between

Zotac Amp Extreme
KFA2 Hall Of Fame (Pre-Binned Chips)

There is another 1080ti, the Gigabyte Extreme Edition, but dont think that is as hardcore as the above cards.

So what card would you guys go for?

All are the same and all voltage limited to 1.093v.
Get the cheapest one with non reference cooler.

so the £950 KFA2 is a gimmick? just for looks or something? also will the binned chips make a difference?

also if all the 1080tis are voltage locked then overclocking is pointless right?

All Pascal 1080s and 1080Tis are locked at 1.093v. Now if the KFA2 is gimmick that's a different matter.
The main difference is the cooler only and the brand.
Some might have some better power delivery (not to be confused with voltage) for notch better VRAM overclock. Others better binned chip for an extra 12-24Mhz oc at same temps.

You should get the KFA super dooper edition. You have the money and they will happily take it from you. Go on you know it's worth it :)

Yeah spend about 300 quid extra on buying the naff one. When you get 2fps more than the tightwads with their 650 quid cards you can feel happy knowing it was worth every penny.

Yeah but when your talking about the meager performance of a 1080Ti an extra 2-3 fps can make all the difference.

I'm intrigued by the whole binning of chips thing. The overclocks guaranteed on the cards are pretty average. It seems a massive waste of time.

All 1080 Ti cards are much the same performance wise so pick the one with the cooler, warranty and other features you want.

If you want to pay silly money these is always the Titan Xp which is quicker than any of the 1080 Ti cards.

Any 1080ti, they all are the same pretty much. You would have to be very very unlucky in the silicon lottery to get one that can't hit 2ghz+. So best of picking one on cooling, noise, price and looks. As cooling affects performance more than how well it clocks lol.

Indeed, and if someone watercools it, just buy the cheapest one, that doesn't come with daft DVI to have single slot solution.

Of the four 1080 cards I tried the cheapest one overclocked the most and the most expensive the least.

That said there was at best 1-2 fps between them given the voltage limitations.

A £650 card is as good as it gets performance wise, however if you value silence invest in a decent aftermarket cooler.

oh i see, so i need to focus on the cooler and warranty duration and perks ect, so i can get a founders edition and it will be the same as the 950 quid hall of fame 8 pack edition

Ive being doing a lot of research last night and this morning, when you see all the FPS graphs against 1080tivs1080ti brand vs brand,

for example i watched the amp extreme vid and the graph beats all the other 1080ti's (by 10-15fps??)
I watched vids and reviews on the Gigabyte aurous 1080ti and that apparently has the highest fps when compared to other ti's, so I see conflicting info on which brand is the king of 1080ti's

So now im thinking heavily between the GIG Auros the Amp Extreme and lastly the white KFA2 (which is not in stock)

shame there is no lightning or classifieds.

They're all the same when manually overclocked to 2050-2100mhz, which they pretty much all will do.

The big difference you are seeing is the ones that come stock clocked at about 1700ish and the more expensive ones that come stock clocked close to 2000, they both will top out at 2100 max.

The cooler the cards run the better they hold their clocks.
The founders doesn't have a good cooler so won't hold it's clocks.
Anyone with a decent cooler will perform as good as the rip off edition £950 card.

Aorus is triple 100mm fans... Pretty extreme haha.

If choose that for air and Asus Poseidon for True Hybrid , AMP for warranty and FTW3 if you intend to sell in a year to two .

Kingpin and lightning not worth it with Pascal

What was interesting about the Maxwell 980 Ti Kingpin is the chips were binned and if you had one over 80% ASIC it made quite a difference.

I suspect the reason we have not seen a 1080 Ti Kingpin is it is not worth binning the chips.

i see, i wonder why KFA2 are selling pre-binned 8 Pack edition 1080ti then? it makes sense now, coz thats why there is no kingpin or lightning coz they are all locked.

hey kaap, when the next cards come out, the one after Pascal, Volta I think, do you think these cards will be unlocked?
