The Conservative election material in the post talking about being "strong and stable" is laughable!

Cameron calls referendum but doesn't plan for both outcomes and then tops it off by abandoning the PM helm.

May takes over, but instead of sorting out Brexit for the benefit of the UK until a scheduled general election in 2019, she calls one less than a year after the referendum result.

More like weak and self preservation and a good dose of UK instability.

The fact you are quoting "strong and stable" means the marketing is working.......

For some people that soundbite will be sinking into their brains and the more you say it then people will assume it is fact

ALL of the 27 remaining EU countries are doing wonderfully, even the less well off ones - Poland is seeing massive growth with wages increasing more rapidly than ever.

Greece are doing wonderfully?

I've set myself a 5-7 year target to save as much money as possible now to emigrate and leave the UK - were done for as a nation if torys come in, just now no one can see this, wants to see this, and wants their head to stay in the sand - driven by national pride.

Sure.

I'm embarrased to be from this country when so many of my nation are utterly ignorant, have zero clue, and quite frankly are stupid (there is no other word for it - voting a tory gov in is the most stupid thing to do by all accounts) - what's even worse is, a lot of these voting the torys in are not well off or average middle class - yet still vote them in - there is no reasoning with these people - those of us who can see what's really happening can show them facts, let them continue to harm themselves and hope for the best.

lol.

IF the torys stay in power then despite every effort to help those who struggle more with facts logic and reality......still vote to harm themselves - then i'll try my very best to go somewhere with more sane minded populations.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

This can be applied to our own country though. All the high-earners in London and the South East pay in lots and lots of income tax to pay for infrastructure and services in areas such as the Lake District and
Cornwall. It just depends on your frame of reference and the size of the picture you are looking at. In a non-uniform society there always has to be givers and takers.

Not really the same. The north used to have all the manufacturing, which was killed off by previous governments (the unions didn't help either). Because they wanted a boring "service" economy.

Exactly. Britain, Germany, France and Italy are basically paying to keep them going. As well as ourselves. Just us and Germany pay in more than all the other members combined.

The richer countries aren't doing it out of the goodness of their hearts. It's an investment. Create infrastructure, create jobs and business between our countries will flourish.

How's Italy doing economically?

Additionally to become an EU member you have to pass a minimum level of requirements - so no, they are doing just fine.

Comical. How did Greece get in then?

With that sort of defeatist attitude, I for one might be willing to chip in for your air fare.

Facts are facts, the UK is going to tumble - of course people will carry on, eat food and sleep in houses (not all of us, just the lucky ones)

Well when you get around to posting some facts, maybe we can talk about them eh?

But I want to live in a nation that takes pride in human rights, is forward thinking, taxes high, provides care for all (poor and rich) & facilities for all - places like Denmark for example have got ideas of what it is to be human down pretty well.

Denmark, the country where the government is propped up by DPP? You couldn't make it up.

You've no "facts" just opinions.

Maybe they're tired of this sanctimonious tone from people who claim to speak for the working class? Given that your post is barely literate, one has to wonder why you feel so entitled?

The only person who could vote tory with a sane and clear mind is a very very rich person - the 1% who would benefit from it.

Real vote winning argument there :D

Except that it is the same. It doesn't matter how we are where we are. A significant proportion of our tax and spend is centralised with richer areas subsidising poorer areas. Or you are favoring a local taxation policy services budget?

- that mentallity is what let hitler come to power - no really, it is.

no really, it isn't.
Get over yourself - you have an opinion just like everybody else, and like everyone else's it is worth exactly one vote, nothing more. You seem to think that your opinion is absolute fact and everybody else is wrong, when the reality is that the world is complicated and nuanced.
Your narrow mindedness makes you as stupid and bigoted as the people you profess to criticise.

I'm also saving my pennies to hopefully emigrate, I grew up loving this country, now I am ashamed to be part of it too, voting to leave the EU was the last straw for me, my Polish grandfather fought so hard to keep the freedoms of this country intact during the war, he had nightmares right up until he passed away from having to bag up blown up body parts, I just don't understand why we are so insular as a country, the problem was never immigration, it was are own inadequacies that was truly to blame, the lack of proper growth of our infrastructure, support of our care and health services, particularly mental health recently, extremely poor social housing, and people was fooled into thinking immigration was to blame.

Let's take our country back and be great again!! Woohoo! Well at least you will have control, or rather the government will have more control without the pesky EU sticking their nose in to protect peoples human rights, this country now has some of the most extreme surveillance laws in the world.

Enjoy your Tory government people.

Says a lot about some people in this thread as they express the middle finger to the country. Jump ship because they cannot stick it.

We're helping keep these net migration numbers down though eh!

You'd have to be bonkers to go back to the UK at the moment, as much as part of me would quite like to. The place is an embarrassment, quite apart from the drop in quality of life I'd have to suffer.

It would be interesting to see how many actually do up sticks and move and that distribution over time. I expect in 10 years it'll be like nothings happened bar the odd visa requirement. Maybe the economy will up up a bit or down a bit but probably not greatly different to Europe once things settle down and the people who have the knack in making money adjust to the new rules.

Yeah, sod that. I'm no patriot (well, not in the conventional sense), my allegiance lies no where. I love a great deal about this country, but I hate just as much. It's skewed, tabloid baiting politics. It's ever increasing authoritarian policies and the Tories OBSESSION with privacy. It's people's weird infatuation with archaic 'sovereignty'. I have zero faith in the current government (which is likely to be in power for at least the next 5 years) nor the opposition.

Why would I stay when everything I love about this country can be found on YouTube or brought in crates over the net?

Goddammit, I'll miss it's countryside and coasts though...

I don't think that's true. I spend a fair bit of time in Spain with work and no, things are not wonderful over there, particularly if you're a young and out of work (although I gather thing have improved slightly in the recent past).

I think you're probably right. But saying that, 6 of my close friends have already moved and are now living comfortably in Sweden and Denmark...

And what about the middle finger this country has given to Europe and people like my family? I've had enough of your insular attitudes.
Lots of us really like Europe and its people, we just don't like the EU political structure/cartel. It's been quite painful having to explain myself to (at times very upset) friends that came here from the EU and beyond. :(

I wasn't a fan of the EU immigration bogeyman - we haven't got our house in order with non-EU numbers for starters.

Well thank the MSM for that (Mail/Express/Sun etc). You're not allowed to have a opinion on anything to do with the EU, you just have to put yourself in Camp Leave or Camp Remain and throw poop at the other side.

If you watch the media coverage of Brexit from here in the continent that's pretty much the impression you get of what's happening in the UK. Two armies of chimps flinging poop at each other.

I'll stay away for now thanks.
