you have no way of knowing that, its down to who ever is running them, it isnt going to be corbyn and his mates doing that, TFL in London is a great success.

Wasn't east coast mainline the recent experiment. Granted private ownership went belly up but nationalisation didn't do much better so they put it up for tender...

The TV debates exist to "bring in" those who do not care about politics, dare I say the Facebook/Xfactor generation? At this point, even before the manifestos were released/leaked, those who are interested in politics already know what they need to make an informed decision.
Who under 30 even watches TV?

Unless by 'The Facebook Generation' you do actually mean the over-30s.....?

They previously committed to a top rate tax of 50%. With the loss of personal allowance, that's an effective rate of tax of 75% for income between £100k and £123k. Not 90% no. But Labour have been at those levels before. It didn't end well.

I dont see why anyone should be shafted for that amount when we already pay 10's of thousands a year in tax.

Wasn't that thing about a top rate for 50% earners suggested under Milliband? i.e not in the current Manifesto.

If you take their current promises at face value (as opposed to a suggestion made in the past) then the top 5% of earners, paying a bit more tax after they earn 80K is a pretty good way of funding things.

Different era anyway. How could you even compare British Rail in the 1970's/80's to how it would be handled today?

Governments struggle to keep the NHS adequately funded. This is an institution that saves life's...

Think keeping the railways adequately funded will be high on anyone's agenda? When it has never been in its history of running, both privately and nationalised.

Tories choose not to keep the NHS adequately funded. Labour actually didn't.

do you think its ok then that foreign governments own them and take the profits rising fares year on year?

Not that it's going to happen... As labour will not win.

But just for the record the nationalisation of railways across the whole UK (if it even happens under labour) would be a disaster. Feel free to reference this statement in future.

What's your opinion on TfL? Do you think that the London's underground would be better if each line was run as a separate franchise with separate ticketing?

Obviously not. At least it's not the preferred outcome. But if it was a choice between foreign owned but the level of service we have now, or nationalisation but with a lesser service (which is my opinion) I would take the 1st option. As an everyday comuter.

Surely if in public ownership they should be ran "not for profit" with profits being put back into the service to benefit those who use it?

*I know I said "not for profit" and then said "profits put back in" but you know what I mean :D

TfL, for what it services, does a grand job. However that doesn't necessarily translate once you extrapolate things does it?

You're not too young. TfL is publicly owned.

I live outside of London so have no idea in my using it maybe six times in my life what an adequate service would/would not be outside of all the reported pay disputes, working conditions etc.

I can only imagine trying to run such a complex service for "profit" would not be viable and is the reason it has thus far not been privatised?

I imagine the lines would be "cherry picked"?

He also makes a good point. TfL workers are constantly on strike over pay/ working conditions. Imagine that nationwide?

Yeah well I disagree, as a family we don't want to pay anymore to fund the lunacy of small minded scroats as we already pay thousands. :p

That's what I meant, as a Net contributor, ALL the profits are put back in to the service and so it's self funding and actually has more investment.
