Help needed: i have a 2kw solar panel system. It was fitted by sspsolarpanels. They have gone into liquidation and the inverter has gone wrong i think 'relay fail' on screen on inverter. What do i do? Anyone recommend an installer? The inverter has a 5yr warranty but going into liquidation I'd have to deal directly with the supplier of the Ever Solar 2000. Being electrical it has to be someone trained. Can i claim from my house insurance do you think?

Can you hear the relay clicking just before it comes up with relay failure?

EDIT: lol whole video on that model and relay falure on youtube

Home insurance wise would have to look at policy details and/or contact them - looks like they might pay out for an unexpected failure of the unit but not if it would be considered to have failed through normal wear and tear.

Ever Solar were taken over by SMA the makers of the Sunnyboy range. They'll honour the guarantee but you need to weigh up the loss of FIT's at this time of year as there could be quite some downtime. Could be worth picking up a cheap replacement in the meantime to keep getting the income. Any spark should be able to change the inverter, it's not part of the FIT's setup. Only the panels and generation meter are of interest to the MCS lot.

well the company went bust - therefore they were cowboys
So have lots of companies. Especially ones affected by the government legislation.

ikea - like i said before. ikea will never go bust. it may be a bit more expensive though
Seriously got a link?

I have no idea what you are referring to because they don't sell solar panel inverters do they?

Edit - did a search on their website and nothing but Google gave me a link but it's for the whole package.

Solar panels for your home

We’ve teamed up with Solarcentury, the leader in home solar installations in the UK to offer the best value in home solar on the market.

http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/ikea/solar-panels/

phone solar century directly and get an inverter from them

Ebay, there's a Growatt with similar specs to your failed Eversolar ending this evening. No bids made, starting at £200. Also a couple of Samil 3000's on there which would work with panels between 1.7-3kwp.
Easy to swap with basic electrical knowhow, turning off the DC isolator when the sun has gone down is priority number one so there's nothing being produced from the roof panels. Then it's just basic stuff.

I've replaced plug sockets and light fittings etc so i might give it a go.

I've been looking at eBay as well. I've got an electrical device to tell me if there's a current etc.

I'm going to get a price from IKEA and a few local companies.

These days you can find a step by step guide on youtube for just about anything heh - probably someone has made one for replacing these things.

Do you have the panels on finance? Guy I work with was worried as the company that fitted his have gone down but has been told that the finance company will arrange repair as part of the agreement if he has issues.

I used to but paid them all off on credit card. They are covered under my house insurance so that may be a way to do it if needed.

I'll check for a video as like you say, someone will probably have done it.

It turns out after going through the masses of paperwork to do with the panels i have a separate 10yr independent warranty. I wasn't sure if that was tied in some other way but i gave them a call to see. They are looking into it and trying to deal with Zever Solar.
