Overwatch

@Roar87 you should have stopped after 2 losses and done something else for a bit, let the player pool refresh

@uncle_rufus I think that might be your issues right there. I don't think you can carry as rein or winston. They both need good supports to be really effective. Go swining as rein without your Ana on point? smashed. Same for winston diving, if you don't have a zarya and a good Ana you need to be really really good to have a big impact.

Also playing as a 2 the game counts as a 1 stack basically, it doesn't see it as an advantage. Player as 3-6 you will get harder games because OW treats groups as an advantage. I wouldn't recommend more than a 2 if you want to climb without the penalty.

One of my accounts will start decaying soon so when it does i'll queue with you if you fancy it, i tend to solo Q atm and its a bit boring

I think I need to go play Factorio or something till the next season starts, around the 7th loss I began wondering if competitive Overwatch was good for my mental health

You might want to calm it down a bit with your app spam on these forums.

Fair enough. 'App spam' is probably a bit harsh though isn't it? I have a thread about one in the bikers forum as I would love some input and testers. This post you quote (which I grant you is the closest to spam) and I think one post in the Android app thread which might have had my Timer and White Noise apps in, which is probably a little harsh being called spam.

As I say though, point taken about this one.

Back on topic, someone mentioned this season will soon be coming to a close. Do we know when?

I'm so frustrated with this game that I've pretty much done with it.

I was just short of 3000 in season 3, got placed at 2400 in season 4 and find myself barely able to stay above 2000 now.

I don't understand how people play competitive and don't speak/have a mic. Almost every game where there is 4 or 5 people on chat speaking - it's a win. Then next game it's just me or 1 other, you pretty certain of a loss. Communication/timing of ulti etc is the key at this level.

Without it - people should bugger off and play quick play.

So fed up with it - I usually do a very good job with Dva and carry most of the games I play but people picking hanzo/widow/junk on the same team on attack and then don't switch when we are clearly getting smashed frustrates the life out of this game for me.

Agreed. I've mainly been playing in a group of 3 to 6 recently, using Discord to communicate and it's such a better experience.

If I'm alone or just two of us, I prefer to play 3 on 3.

Let the player pool refresh.... Ha ha! Unbelievable.

Rarely have I heard anything so ridiculous in reference to a video game. I haven't played in months and I'm guessing ranking is still just as broken in this sense.

Why is it ridiculous ? You sound completely misinformed and don't even play the game anymore? If ranking is broken because you have an over inflated sense of your own skill level then what do you want to blizzard to do about it? Place you at 4500 so you can derank to 2800 all season?

If you take a break you won't be in the same cycle of players. Those people you think we're throwing before will be in other games and you will get paired with new people. If you just instantly requeue every time you will get matched with the same players in your skill bracket, regardless of whether you think you belong with them or not, they ARE the same level as you.

I do love it when someone chooses to bother me in comp about how bad I am. And I have to remind them that the matchmaking system has matched them with me so they are also terrible if I am :)

So I played this morning and I'm back at 3211. I felt like overall my team mates were better and the enemy teams weren't as good. I could basically carry with whatever hero I played, I haven't had a single Hanzo or Sombra on my team, no one has left any of my games and everyone was speaking and even paying attention when I called things out like playing Winston into Reaper and saying we should have Pharah because they have no hitscan. Completely different game basically. This was over 8-10 games similar to the other day. I've lost 1 and drew 1 (we should have won really, complete throw).

Yes this is very simple solution if you like playing with mic just add some people and play with them.

People can be really effective on hanzo and sombra. Try combining with them if they have good stats and not assume they are going to be bad. Got a Hanzo, why not Zarya? Grav+dragons =team kill. Sombra completely neutralises an enemy rein and can stop those bloody mercy mains getting their 5 man resses. Let her hack a health pack and then take some poke DMG and use the pack to heal to quickly build her ult. Then just EMP and wipe them

Hit my season high of just over 3.3 today, was on a small win streak after clutching a game with a switch from Ana to Soldier. The following game someone on my team disconnected in overtime when it looked like we were going to win, so we lost that. Then lost the following with an enemy Widowmaker picking our dps off all game despite me telling them to stand behind the barrier and so they don't get picked (this is at mid Diamond can you believe?).

I've been playing a fair bit of Ana recently, I credit at least 200 SR to me being on Ana rather than Mercy (which is who I normally play when we need a support). What I find shocking is that a lot of people at low-mid Diamond specialise in 1-2 heroes and can't flex to something the team needs without being extremely unreliable. I think if you want to climb you should be able to play at least 2 characters in each role, including Rein. By all means have a main character, but being able to play something the team needs is so important.

"We are indeed adding a countdown to the current competitive season's end in an upcoming patch.

In the meantime, I can let you know that Season 4 will end on May 29 at 0:00 UTC. We decided to have a shorter amount of "offseason" time without competitive play as compared to previous seasons.

As a reminder, the time of May 29 0:00 UTC can correspond to different time and date depending on where you live in the world. As an example, that date and time is May 28 5:00pm Pacific Daylight Time or May 28 8:00pm Eastern Daylight Time."

New to the game, so checking in here. Had fun playing Uprising, and found it an easy way to learn about some of the characters, but still some that I've not played at all yet. I'm at level 27, so just qualified for competitive, but not tried yet... concerned people take it too serious in there, but I assume I'll be teamed with similar levels, and I'm sure playing Mercy for a few rounds should make me more popular! I'm playing under uF0n #2333.

Also wondering if anyone is trying out Heroes of the Storm to get the D.Va and Genji skins... from reading the promo, seems you can't just jump in there alone, and need to link with friends... that right?

Hey, the HoTS thingy, yes I want to try and do the challenge for the goodies, not played any of the games yet and only put a couple of hours into HoTS to do tutorial etc but if you see me online and fancy it then gimme a shout I'm up for it. Think I may have sent you a wee message on battle.net the other night, I'm BrotherDave#2792

Same goes for anyone else wanting to the to HoTS challenge, give me a shout I'm a noob but I try.
