Manchester Bombing *** Please remain respectful and refrain from antagonising posts ***

Anyone else hope they don't release the *removed* name or any details about him, just let the praT disappear into obscurity?

Yeah if for no other reason that it is pretty much proved that having the perpetrators name up there in lights tends to encourage those also considering doing similar acts while the thought that they will be forgotten tends to be a powerful discouragement to all but the most extreme zealots for a cause.

I think times have already changed. All this stuff about Muslims being radicalised in mosques and the need to have undercover people in them all (ridiculous idea, there are 2000 mosques in this country) isn't really relevant now.

Most of the terror attacks in this country are carried out by British born citizens and are getting their warped views by consuming IS propaganda online. They aren't going down the local mosque saying "Alright Bruv, I'm bombing an Ariana Grande concert next week"

that was (allegedly) the Russian approach after the Moscow attacks - rap their bodies in a pig skin and burn them... not a bad solution as far as the terrorists are concerned but could cause a bit of backlash in the muslim community

CBS News (it'll be out sooner or later):

LONDON -- CBS News confirmed Tuesday that the man who blew himself up the previous night at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester, England, was 23-year-old Salman Abedi, who was known to British authorities prior to the attack.

How to stop them? Just a thought but given I imagine they think they'll be rewarded for their horrific actions and get to Jannah, with 72 or whatever virgins, then surely one avenue worth investigating is to prevent that.

Think I read somewhere that pigs offal/blood + dead terrorist = no virgins
US soldiers fighting in the Philippines at the turn of the 20th century did this. Dunno how effective it was but the US won that war.

In 1941, TIME ran a letter to the editor from a soldier named J. R. McKey who had served with Pershing in the Philippines decades before. In the letter, McKey describes using pigs in burials to deter Muslim insurgent activities.... McKey wrote, "U.S. soldiers ... had a pretty good cure for juramentado [Moro swordsmen] activities. Knowing the horror of the Mohammedan for any contact with swine, and particularly with its blood, these American roughnecks, when they had killed a juramentado, held for him a very public funeral. The body of the defunct bad man having been deposited in the grave, a pig was brought, stuck, its blood sprinkled freely over the D B M, the dead pig thrown in with him, and the burial completed."

Increase the spending on the intelligence services but dedicated to this internal IS threat. Kick in the doors of the top 250 on the list and ask what they think they are playing at. Stick all the other 750 or so "knowns" on surveillance. Whatever the cost they should just do it once and do it properly. If someone said sorry thats gonna cost extra then I dont think after last nights events many are going to complain about a few quid here and there knowing it going towards keeping us safe

Basically if you have made the list then well done you deserve someone sticking their nose in your business.

What is with the US media, don't they have any regard for ethics?

Releasing information before even the host of the attack is willing to is aggravating.

I wasn't explaining it to you, I was following on from your point.

ah, fair enough :)

There's no justification they could possibly have for any backlash unless they they beleive the terrorist(s) deserves to get to heaven?

I'm not sure logic comes into it - it would be offensive and an insult to Islam etc.. I really doubt it would go down well. I don't think there would be any mechanism in UK law currently by which we could mandate that dead islamists get wrapped in pig skin. If anything it could encourage further attacks.

Quite often i'm pretty numb to theses things for various reasons, other countries or miles away in another city etc etc however i work in manchester and the little girl Saffie comes from leyland where i live so it's all much closer to home, it's stirred my emotions up a lot.

RIP

Taken from a Muslim poster on a Islamic forum, bar the anti Israel rhetoric I think it's quite spot on when describing the current rise in terrorism
Most people in the "west" do not view people from the Middle East as savages, nor do they believe Islam is some terrorist ideology. You need to stop listening to those who would tell you this in some misguided attempt to stoke your anger and anxiety.

People ARE standing up against their governments, and the endless wars and interventions. Ask yourself why they have not been successful?

1. Saudi Arabia wants to uphold its monarchy and is against the idea of an "Islamic Republic" (Iran, Syria, Libya, etc.). It has a political motivation to subvert these republics through sowing chaos in the region and getting western nations to help. The campaign against the Shia is part of this.
2. Saudi Arabia is financing and spreading Salafist/Wahhabist Islam around the world. Look at the "Red Mosque" (Lal Masjid) in Pakistan--the kids who study there are taught to despise "infidels" and other Muslims, and they learn nothing but select portions of the Quran. In interviews, these kids don't even know what the meaning of the passages are, they just memorize. 99% of all terrorists come from this "branch" of Islam.
3. Israel uses its power and influence to encourage western governments to act against their own interests and engage in military intervention in the Middle East. Saudi Arabia is happy to go along with some of this (the removal of Assad, bombing of Houthi rebels, etc.).

So this isn't as simple as western people standing up agains their own governments, when we have Muslim nations (and Israel) encouraging military strikes in the Middle-East.

Whenever the west seems to be retreating from the stage in the ME, we suddenly get these terrorist attacks, which then act as a justification for putting boots on the ground in places like Syria. The terrorists who carry out these attacks are the stooges of the House of Saud and the Israeli/neocon lobby.

You say westerners are acting like savages less than 24 hours after (apparently) some jihadist just blew up a bunch of innocent women and children. So the solution to savagery is to behave like even more of a savage?
