First eBay issue. Ever.

The whole point of auctioning with no reserve is that you don't give a toss what you get for it. This is the absolute fundament of no reserve auctioning. lmao.

So how can anyone possibly defend someone putting something up for sale with no reserve and then crying when it sells for 99p?

This is NOT a case of mistake in pricing lol.

Also what is the limit before the seller is happy? £3.50? £20? £100?........ OHH WAIT i forgot that's the whole point of setting a bloody reserve price lmao!

You cant not have a reserve and have a reserve at the same time lmao, that's a paradox. You either have a reserve or you don't.

Let's say the OP leaves negative feedback, what guarantees are there that he won't receive negative feedback in return from the seller? Can the seller even do this?

I don't think sellers can leave negative feedback and it gets removed after a couple months regardless.

OP sounds pretty unreasonable but at the same time the seller is just wasting people's time (and should have a reserve). He shouldn't be obligated to sell lol

it costs money to put a reserve on items on ebay. not a lot but it's still money.

therefore idiots don't put one on.

i don't put a reserve on my items either. i then use my second account to bid up to my reserve.

I am doubtful the seller even give negative feedback after a a dispute case finds the seller at fault and forces a refund.

TBH the ebay t&c outlines the consequences for not delivering goods. We can play armchair lawyers all day but i have never heard of a seller being forced to sell

Why not see if you can come to some agreement on the price?

Expecting to get a £400 exhaust for 99p was never going to happen.

Ok, let's say he sold it at a proper auction. You know the one with a hammer and the guy speaking really fast. No reserve, gets 99p for it. Is their any difference?

He's relisted the auction. Again 99p starting, no reserve. Even after I advised him of putting a reserve on.

I'm curious to the exhaust quality etc wanna see what it is like.

Or just give me a link to the exhaust model then instead.

difference or no, it's totally irrelevant to your situation to be honest. it's an online auction and even if there was an enforceable contract of sale the seller could simply claim lost/damage/stolen etc. think you're wasting too much time and energy on this now.

seeing as your all for wasting time and energy, if he's relisted why not created new account and bid a silly amount, get him all creamy round the gusset for a big sale then pull out once sale closes! :p

That's illegal and probably costs you more than adding a reserve in the first place.

how will it cost me more? it costs less.

everyone does it on ebay. i've lost out on items then had a second chance offer from the seller straight away saying the winner backed out. pretty obvious what has happened in those situations.

Nah because I'm not willing to stoop to a low like that. It is what it is, no harm done.

Bizarre, you have all the information you need in this thread. Are you trying to be nosey? ;)

What happens if you bid up to the reserve on another account and no one else bids? You win the auction on another account and are liable for the fees. Of course you would cancel the transaction but I'm sure it wouldn't be difficult for ebay to figure it out. That process is actually illegal and referred to as "shill bidding": http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/seller-shill-bidding.html

P.s. Not everyone does it, I don't and I bet the vast majority of ebay users do not.

Is it just me that sets the bidding to start at an amount I'd begrudgingly accept for the item and just hope it goes up from there?

this is a case of seller not having a clue and buyer not having much sense or the ability to understand people make mistakes.... Both buyer and seller are the sort of people who cause "issues" on ebay... (not the worst sort obviously)

yeah i just cancel the transaction then re-list.

done it a fair few times now. it's not easy to detect because ebay literally does millions of transactions per day. they don't really care about joe bloggs and his 3 transactions a year.
