Getting Air Woes

I use a standing bicycle pump most of the time. Probably shouldn't (there's a warning telling me not to), but it does the job.

The tyres on our prams are at a much higher PSI and i use it for those so what could possibly go wrong? :p

I probably would've gone with something that looks like it has higher quality fittings though, not plastic.

Maybe something like this

Ive got that same Ring compressor, easyrider.

The set PSI seems out according to my separate gauge, but it is consistent, i find i have to set it around 1.5psi higher than i actually want.

Ideal though and better than a non set and forget type, imo.

You say that but I'd hazard a guess that 99% of tyres are checked whilst warm, so does it really matter?
If you want it to be accurate yes, it can be 5psi+ difference with a hot tyre pressure. compared to cold. For the commute/shopping run/pick kids up from the school then it wont matter. Spiriting driving it will. Lets face it most people do not even check their pressures until they are told by a total stranger a tyre looks soft.

I use the ring compressor other people have listed.

For the money, I find it bloody good value!

Surely you will want your tyre pressures to be set correct when hot? Otherwise they will be too high when set cold.

I understand that the ones on the door should be set when cold but surely if you want the best for yourself they should be adjusted when hot?

Are you suggesting that average drivers can tell what the pressure should be better than the ones specified by the car manufacturer?

Even as a spirited driver myself I inflate at cold to 1-2 PSI higher than the number quoted in the door. The logic being that when I inevitably leave it too long and find I'm 1-2 PSI under I've done equal driving both above and below the recommended pressure to even out tyre wear. This would be impossible to work out accurately when the tyres are warm as it will be so difficult to judge just how warm they are.
