New Motherboard

Alright will do, thanks
Sorry mate, not the general hardware section but this one.....

Only suggestion I would make, while it sounds like a b350 100 quid board will do you fine, if you fancy at a later date dropping the next iteration of Ryzen in (zen+, or whatever it's called) it might be worth getting a 'mid range' board like the 2 I mentioned so you don't feel the need to upgrade your board then too!

Yeah im looking for something that will be future proof. Ill see if I can find one that will match my specs.

Don't get me wrong the Asus is a beastly board, I just don't see the point in dropping that much ££ on it.

Definitely look at the gigabyte gaming 5 and k5 as cheaper alternatives, while not excluding the b350 range of boards. Lot of happy folk on here using them.

Well this is what I was unsure about, I didn't really know what I was looking for in the first place, except for compatibility

Don't worry, you're not alone I'm not knowing exactly what you're looking for. The beauty of Ryzen, IMO, is that it's perfect if you're looking for a true multi purpose platform - solid at gaming, solid at productivity etc.

Can I ask, when you say compatibility, compatibility with what?

All the AM4 boards available are compatible with Ryzen chips. Have you something specific in mind you want the platform to be compatible with?

Just the Ryzen 1600 which is an AM4 socket!
I was originally going for Intel but the lovely folks here have convinced me to get the Ryzen

I never buy the most expensive because they give me extras i will never ever use, also they all have the same warranty, so what the ..

only you can decide - on what you need atx or micro atx

then you're golden - all the boards we've mentioned will be perfectly fine for you. but given you're not planning to oc or dual card then you really could/should look at the B350 boards in the ~100 quid range. only reason I'd suggest going for the more expensive boards, like the gigabytes I mentioned is if you plan or fancy dropping zen+ in at a later date - note the b350 boards would still take zen+ but, me personally unless I'd a good board that cost me a bit of wedge I'd 'want' a new board then too, if you know what I mean! :p

Ryzen without a doubt - i have had good results with my giga
It seems to be the more popular choice!

Im not certain id get my moneys worth on a board that is £200 or above! Future proof or not

So, it seems to have an issue with overclocking? Does that also mean the B350-F series of motherboard that someone else quoted me has the same issue?
i think like this, 'if they cannot get their top boards right, what hope is there for there cheaper ones? '

some good review sites out there and hardocp is one of my favourites for psu and m/board reviews. They are hard on they way test !

I can understand your view point, however, the CH6 was their pretty much first to market AM4 board having had limited time to manufacture and test. The Strix linked above has only just released onto the market so they have had a few extra months to refine and revise the boards. I wouldn't expect anywhere near the same issues with new release boards. If they're not already out there you'll probably see in the not to distant future CH6 rev1.1 or rev2.0 (whatever they decide to call them) boards that are much more stable than rev 1.0
