Acronyms you never knew

Spending time working with ex-forces personnel.

TLA (Three letter Acronyms) replaced by MLA (Multi letter Acronyms) when they ran out TLAs
 
It's an oldie and you probably heard it. Fix Or Repair Daily- heard that after I bought a dog of an escort, worst thing was when I filled the tank for the first time, smelt petrol after leaving it on the drive, it was leaking directly onto exhaust too!

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but to be an acronym it must form a "word"' like RAM or RADAR, if it's not "word" it's simply an initialisation e.g. PCIE or UFO. That is all....
I did boy 90% of people keep ignoring and posting none acronyms. Not even sure the Russian one is an acronym as surely that can't be a word
 
Some of you are getting acronyms confused with initialisms.

If you don't pronounce it as a word, then it's an initialism. For example "NHS".
If you do pronounce it as a word, then it's an acronym. For example, "LASER."
