Xbox Scorpio

i wonder how good the 4k UHD player is?, that may be a reason i'll get one as my My Ps4 PRO is lacking this and i need a decent player for my Samsung 49in ks7000, why the hell did Sony not include one in the Pro is still a mystery unless it was just cost reasons.

I did this last year and it's worked out very well. I've got a Corsair Carbide Air 240 case (which is excellent) with an EVGA Micro 2 M/B, i7-5930K (with h100i cooler), M.2 drive (+ 2nd SSD/HD), 32 GB RAM, Titan Xp in SLI (one with EVGA hybrid cooler) and Oculus Rift CV1.

It's a fair beast and fit nice and snug in the TV cabinet.

My xBone is retired to the bedroom for watching the occasional bluray.

All that cost and I bet it's not as good as the One X..... :-)

Yep I'm pretty much settled on an Air 240 too. Anything smaller seems like a mare. Glad to hear another thumbs up. :D How are you finding it for dust and how noisy is the H100i?

Steam link is good but I don't like the banding and compression artifacts, even on beautiful settings.

I have no complaints with the UHD Player on One S and imagine the X will be the same.... I'm not investing much in 4K Blu-Rays though as tbh I would rather use streaming like Apple TV.

Dust in non-existent. The h100i is a little noisy as are the TXp's but neither an issue as the TV cabinet is a decent distance from the sofa. However I've recently been looking at getting some Noctua fans.

BTW - I mostly game with a Xbox Elite Controller (coming from being used to consoles over the last few years) and have a Logitech wireless keyboard at hand for other stuff and games like Planet Coaster. TV is a 50" 4K Panasonic.

I'm going to buy one,
Yes I can play the games on PC but £450 isn't to bad and its a simple hassle free solution,
the main draw is as always my friends mainly play xbox, as they cant afford to drop big money on a 4k gaming PC. now I can play with them on their old xbox ones with my new super shinny version.
The exclusives aren't the issue for me as I can play them on PC cross play BUT if I want to play PU Battlegrounds or any other multiplatform game with them they are only going to play on xbox and if I want to play with them I want to play with the better looking stuff I'm used to from PC.

My big issue is that my 4k monitor doesn't have a HDMI 2.0 port so I want to know if its going to have a display port connection. I doubt it is.

I'm not convinced there is going to be much difference between games on the PS4Pro and XB1X

I expect to see 1440p/1800p upscaled or 2160p checkerboard on PS4 Pro and native 2160p on Xbone X for multiplatform games, or if they are both 4K, then 30fps on PS4 Pro and 60fps on Xbone X. Of course, with the resolution it probably will be hard to see a difference. But it all depends on whether the devs make extra efforts or not. With the extra memory, the Xbone X should have better looking textures. e.g. Rise of the Tomb Raider on PS4 Pro cannot use 4K assets as there isn't the memory.

Too expensive and majority of the games are multiplat anyway.

Is 4k really worth all that extra money?

Yes. It's relative to what you can afford though, but certainly you would notice a difference in texture/image quality and then adding HDR into the mix.

4k not really once you sit back from the TV. HDR though in my opinion is worth every penny and adds far more than 4K. Just remember not all 4k TV's are the same and investing in one HDR Premium certified as a minimum is a good idea....

Will there be any special "day one" editions? I'm definitely pre ordering, pre ordered both the ps4 and ps4 pro but I dont play on it that much so I may trade it in towards the X, I've only just started uncharted 4 finally and although I'm enjoying it, it doesn't have the same special feel as UC2 & 3, the only game that would keep ps4 for is TLOU 2 but that will probably come to ps5 in a remastered edition anyway

Also I think the xbox controller (imo) is way better than ps4, I've had every Sony console yet still cant get used to it, I got a xbox one controller for my pc and it just sits perfectly in hands, the thumbsticks on the dual shock feel as if they are in a unnatural position

After looking on Wikipedia for sales infor it was nice to see AMD powering these devices. :) Did they mention anything about VR on the X yesterday?

One other thing i noticed was the complete removal of the Scorpio moniker.
