Of course we should condemn gun violence and stronger gun control.
And also proves that travel ban does nothing regarding domestic terrorism...which brings me to my next point, why isn't this label as terrorism? Isn't it an act of terror?
we dont know yet, terrorism requires political motivation/a cause.
otherwise its just a mass murder, like the guy the other week who shot 8 people cause he got fired.
I suspect deliberately targeting political officials makes it terrorism. Going to a local shopping mall and shooting random strangers would be just a sociopath.
no not at all, if they target the politician because they are a deranged lunatic it wont be declared terrorism (like the guy who stabbed people shouting this is for syria etc in the tube station, not a terrorist as a lunatic)
or if they shot him because they didnt like him specifically.
there needs to be something wider at work for the crime of terrorism.
otherwise every gangland killing thats a "warning" is terroism and you start making your courts very murkey and difficult.

More on topic, though. I think you usually call it terrorism when there is an affiliated, politically motivated group. This seems to be lone nut so far, I think?

As for the actual incident I question...
Extreme views aren't acceptable whatever affiliation you happen to have at the time*. If the guy was a Sanders supporter you can't really blame Sanders for his actions as he's never promoted violence, and has already condemned the action.
It took Trump several days to comment on the Portland incident...
*It's becoming increasingly clear that extremists are extremist and can be perfectly willing to jump between extremes, for example the Neo nazi that converted to Islam and then killed his Neo nazi compatriots a few months ago. He may have done everyone a favour however as they found bomb making equipment in the houses of the victims IIRC.
