Are We Too Soft In This Country? ........

If you have the right to appeal then you have the right to stay put until that appeal has been heard. If that means you're still in prison then so be it, if you've already been let out of prison because you have done your term then so be it too.

Basically the government's system for deporting foreign criminals before they've had a chance to appeal breaches their human rights according to the Supreme Court. Foreign criminals can now stay in this country as it breaches their human rights as it is likely to significantly weaken their case when they appeal if they have been deported. So, so soft in this country ...

No we arent soft...we have human rights for a reason.

I swear people think the only people who benefit from human rights are foreigners.

  • A factor in an effective appeal is the ability of the applicant to give live evidence on their family ties in the UK and whether they are a reformed character

  • Evidence via video link may suffice but the financial and logistical barriers to giving evidence that way from abroad are insurmountable

how much does skype cost these days O.o !?

to be fair i dont think a British national is going to be affected by the appeals process for deportation.

that seems a very foreigner specific tbh

Far FAR too soft, I see Japan are toughening up their laws in response to potential trouble from "foreigners".

Namely bringing in a raft of new offences pre their Olympic hosting, (and post seeing how many UK attacks were made by those our authorities were interested in but unable or unwilling to challenge fully). “Planning the execution of a serious crime for a terrorist or other organized crime group.” Needless to say some of a more liberal persuasion have their knickers in a twist over this, but it's been passed, so it seems futile their getting too excitable. The sooner the UK is out of the remit of meddling European courts and takes a more balanced stance on the much abused cry of "human rights" the better. I can't see why the law of treason isn't used more in many cases.

This ruling was made by the Supreme Court in London.
Article 8 of the European Convention of Human Rights - the right to family and private life. Time to get us out of that agreement, it was a good idea but designed for another time before multi-culturalism and mass immigration.

We've had significant immigration from Jamaica since before the European Convention on Human Rights was drafted.

Execution is completely unacceptable.
