Happy birthday to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

When it comes to pomp and ceremony you cannot beat us Brits.
I have the Trooping of the Colour on the TV now.
My dad was in the Coldstream guards many many moons ago, he is 86 now, and took part in this ceremony many times.

Yeah she should get a high % of the tourism money, but we shouldnt have to foot the bill for renovating her properties etc.

People complain about fixing the palaces with tax money etc, but they are one of the biggest tourist attractions in the world. A few million to maintain them is peanuts in comparison to what they bring in.

I'd write her a birthday message here but then she'd only read the same message twice when she checks the one I wrote to her on facebook

Just think how much money they'd bring in if there were no royals in them and they were fully open to the paying public. The current situation generates peanuts in comparison to what it could bring in. ;)

But if there were no royals in it then it would just be another fancy house. I can visit many of those around here. The royals make it special.

Odd. That wasn't the impression I got when I went to the Winter Palace or the Forbidden City. The lack is sitting royalty didn't seem to affect tourist numbers whatsoever.

... maybe she will - but a pause of respect to the loss of life in Grenfell would be appropriate ?

Edit: thankyou

Even though I'm not a royal fan, I have no more reason to wish harm upon the queen than I would for any other elderly lady.

Happy Birthday ma'am. And wish you many more.
