Cool just thought I'd check, turns a few £££'s into ££££'s if it was.
Thanks.

It's on a Corsair H105 at the minute which isn't too shabby! I will go full loop at some point but will need to reshell everything in to a suitable case.Maybe look at better CPU cooling if possible for 4.8GHz![]()
Your 4790k won't bottleneck any of the Volta cards either but you won't see any of those for another year.![]()
I'm good on that front, got 2x 8gb Kingston 2400mhz ram.The only thing I know I'm bottlenecked at the moment is system ram. 8GB 1600Mhz aint cutting it now. Had to dial back some texture settings as it is eating up 6 and 7GB with all the mods ending up with some stutters.
Even Quake champions is eating up 6.5GB.
I'll need to look at getting some nice fast 16GB.

Ran 2x 1080 Ti's with the 4790k. Jumping to the 7700k there was only a very small difference.
Here is my 4790k with all cores at 4.2ghz and my 7700k with all cores at 4.5ghz.
4790k will be fine for a good few years yet.

And at 1080p

I've noticed this too. Getting 7GB system ram usage in Doom at 5k.
1080Ti is a great card and enough for 4k (some games I run at 5k) and my i5 4690k doesn't seem to be hindering it.
Problem is the CPU cooler I have is huge and is covering the 2 empty memory slots on the motherboard. So I may have to sell the 2x4GB and buy 2x8GB I think.

What is the sweet spot for price/speed for DDR3 memory these days?

Memory prices have rocketed recently, Even storage has with my 2560gb Intel 600 ssd now costing more than double what it did when I got it 3 or 4 months ago, It's gone from £69 to £159
When I got that I was considering grabbing either ddr3 as I've only got 8gb's at the moment or ddr4 for my next build, Bit I waited and just like the ssd, memory pricing rocketed.
That said these aren't badly priced for today's pricing

Get em bought, the ram in my comp has gone up by a lot! lucky I filled every slot when it was cheaperThe Kingston hyperx 2400mhz sticks that I have are £129 on a well known webshop named after a rainforest at the moment, might pick up another pair for the hell of it, they were £200 when I built the pc!
Josh.
