I dare say they play things up a wee bit...Oh; there was me thinking that was just their personalities!

Me neither, but it's hard to avoid the ads when they're constantly being shoved down your throat.
Yes I think it's borderline getting over the top to be honest. But, I think that's the same for all this politically correct stuff. Every advert has to have every minority under the sun in it, as does every TV programme etc. Just move on with it and ignore it is my recommendation. To be fair I don't know a single gay person who watches these kinds of programs, most of them are all generalised crap at severe ends of the spectrum of madness, there was a BBC 'Documentary' that seemed to just be provoking homophobes, not my scene at all![]()
They need a month? Jesus, just how great does everyone think they are? Is a day not good enough these days?
My personal favourite is the inclusive family, you know the ones, Dad is Chinese, Mum is African and the kid is white.
So cute.

if people want to be extra 'proud' of their sexuality for a whole month each year then that's up to them tbh...
At least we seem to be getting past the hilarious antics of people like Louis Spence and Alan Carr who are like the black minstrels of the gay world like OMG THEY ARE SO CAMP IT'S HILARIOUS.
[..]
Are the TV stations going too far with this? Why do they have to single people out like this, as if they need special attention?
I don't see why it matters, it isn't like it is harming anyone - maybe the odd high street is closed for a parade or something but it isn't like everyone is forced/coerced into wearing a rainbow badge or have a minute long silence for all those lost to AIDS etc.. (well at least not yet anyway)

How about if people want to be proud of being "white", have streets closed for their white pride parades during white pride month, etc? It's the same thing - why should it be treated differently?
I'm "qualified" for both and I'd rather spit on everyone in them than have either exist let alone take part in them. I don't give a damn how fashionable irrational prejudice is or which equally pathetic variant of it is fashionable in any given time or place.
Well I'm not sure there is an issue in itself with being proud of who you are.
The point of these LGB[whatever] events was that they were discriminated against.
You might not like such an event but that shouldn't matter, you don't need to attend one - if others want to attend one that is surely up to them.
You mean like so many other adverts for cheap trashy TV get shoved down your throat?Me neither, but it's hard to avoid the ads when they're constantly being shoved down your throat.
There's another issue in the belief that being in the "right" biological group is something to be proud of, i.e. that it's better than others.
Obviously not. The point of group pride is to be proud of being in that group and to promote the two beliefs I refer to above.
Gay pride or LGBT pride is the positive stance against discrimination and violence toward lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people to promote their self-affirmation, dignity, equality rights, increase their visibility as a social group, build community, and celebrate sexual diversity and gender variance. Pride, as opposed to shame and social stigma, is the predominant outlook that bolsters most LGBT rights movements throughout the world. Pride has lent its name to LGBT-themed organizations, institutes, foundations, book titles, periodicals and even a cable TV station and the Pride Library.
This is something that's been bothering me for a while. I have many gay friends, gay family and my mentality is that what people do in their personal lives is none of my business, so put the torches and pitch forks away.
That said, I just saw an ad for some or other gay tv show. This is nothing new, homosexuality has been in films and tv shows for decades and there's nothing wrong with that.
This show however, "gay and proud of it" or something almost seems condescending, patronizing towards homosexuality, like it's an affliction or something. It was in the same line as those TV shows that document people with Downs Syndrome, quite pathetic really.
Are the TV stations going too far with this? Why do they have to single people out like this, as if they need special attention?
I know if I was a gay man I'd be seriously miffed.
Unless I'm just being a , in that case, as you were.

It's pride month, they're going to make a big deal of it, special attention is the name of the game this month.
