Seriously stop with this Fe benchs, i think it is clear that they aren't aimed at gaming nor do they have proper drivers. If you can't see it hundred more benchs won't help you thats for sure and if you are that desperate go buy gtx1070/1080 or ti...

Ignore nvidia for God sake.

Vega doesn't need anything from nvidia AMD fans or people just looking for better bang for buck monitor plus GPU will be watching Vega.

So what if Nvidia has had this performance for over a year it means nothing to me and am sure I not alone.

Even if Vega is the same price has 1080 AMD still offer the best complete PC setup for price and performance.
Monitors, CPU's, motherboards and GPUs

All nvidia care about is ripping of their highend market with GPU after GPU Ti ripping into the TX for example. It's a joke and only the die hard nvidia fans on here defend this practice.
Why would anyone ignore nVidia? That smacks of brand loyalty, which is insanity no matter where your loyalty lies.

Few of us are jumping up and down with joy over nV's prices, I absolutely agree. But nV have the cards, the perf, the power efficiency... and they are the ones actually making progress each gen.

AMD seem to be going backwards in terms of IPC from Fiji to Vega! And the power consumption of 300-375 watts for 1080 perf is INSANE!

You say only nV "die hards" would buy a Ti... who in their right mind is buying Vega, when it's 12+ months late to the party, hugely power hungry, and may not even be much cheaper?

Brand loyalty and blindly buying only AMD or only nV is a fool's game. Forget "ecosystems"... buy the best tech on the market, that meets your needs. Ignoring one side of the other because you don't like them is extremely silly.

Am surprised people are willing to accept 1080 performance so long after release but I guess the Freesync force is strong. I do think AMD are going to struggle for at least another year or two to outpace Nvidia. I miss the 9700/9800 glory days.

Well I'm back on the definitely have to wait and be patient band wagon

Had to pop the car in the garage

-50 bank balance for the rest of the month

Good job freezers stocked!

Look at it this way and am sure I not alone.
Freesync monitor owner here using a 290 wanted to upgrade Fury wasn't worth it. Still waiting to upgrade and keep using Freesync a GPU 1080 performance is a very good upgrade for me.

This goes for guys running 390 and even people below the 290 GPUs that are Freesync ready.
You then have guys buying Freesync monitors not just because they cheap than Gsync but because they is just so much more on offer. These Guys will also be watching RX Vega

All AMD need to continue to do is release competitive GPUs

Maybe so but if vega is only competitive with the 1080 it's leaving a gap that needs filled. A dual card is a possibility but after the fury duo i think amd have sort of stepped back from doing those for gaming specifically.

Which is the problem.

1080 perf at $500 (according to that AMD slide) at literally *double* the power usage of the 1080...

How are you going to tame that 375 watt monster?

An aio is the obvious choice, worked well for 295x2 and that was a 500 watt card. Just needs amd not to skimp out on the cooling. Possible we could see what they done with fury and furyx, a liquid cooled version from amd and air cooled from other manufacturers.

if AMD manages 15% faster than GTX 1080 on release and another 10-15% from driver increase over the following months then that is excellent apart from the power usage which is crazy inefficient and the die size. Its not a 1080ti beater but its not far away either , hopefully.

Best we all be patient and not argue, not long left now.

If it’s between the 1080 and 1080ti on release I am confident it will eventually beat the 1080ti over time judging by how Nvidia abandons their previous gen but by then no one will care about it.

You seem to have ignored the compute benchmarks showing Vega FE far ahead of Titan Xp.

Brand loyalty and blindly buying only AMD or only nV is a fool's game.

Some people just prefer AMD over Nvidia since Nvidia have been pushing closed standards. That's just common sense.

Yes they do, but not a year after the competition, it's ridiculous[/QUOTE]

Sorry, I don't understand - you are saying they should just give up and go out of business if they can't beat Nvidia in this generation even if they are releasing a card better than their other cards?

AMD should be releasing the best cards they can and then price them competitively to try and maximize the profit they can make from those cards. It is looking like they are not going to beat the 1080ti this time. And that they are probably going to sit around 1080 level. If they are the best performance/$ in my budget next time I am buying a card I will get one.

There is nothing ridiculous about it - Intel have been spanking AMD for years at the top of the tree - but there were some really strong arguments for AMD in particular areas. It looks like Nvidia might be the absolute performance king for a while longer. As long as these cards are competitive in a certain market tier they will do ok - and hopefully customers will make sensible decisions about what gives them the best $/Performance.

My most recent purchase was a 6gb 1060 - because I was still able to grab one at a good price and all the 480's in NZ seem to be out of stock thanks to miners. My next one, whenever it is will be purely based on what is the best value on the day I buy it.

With all the cars selling so will thanks to mining, you would think profits for companies would be substantially up.
