Not that many actually. The usernote count wraps back round to zero after a while.

Really? So it's like driving license points expiring or something? :D

Am curious now - are these user notes just for suspensions and infractions or can they be placed there on an ad-hoc basis? Like a mod could comment: "tsk that user dowie is being a bit argumentative in a GD thread again, best keep an eye on him in future" even if no actual moderator action took place.

I wonder who the nice mods are and who the wielders of the extended hammers are.

that could be interesting, I wonder if the admins ever take a look at the stats for different mods

I wasn't that serious about the count resetting, sorry :p

Notes can be added even if there's not a suspension/whatever that has taken place. So it's not like "oh, this person has 10 notes and this one has 15 so we should be more ready to suspend the second person" (though if you have a lot of notes it probably means that you've been more naughty in general) :)

That's why we have FCD - so if you think that a moderator has made a mistake or acted incorrectly you can raise it somewhere that the entire mod team can view.

I have a post in FCD that is currently unanswered. Would it be possible please for a Don to clarify my question? I also posted in this thread, post #78. It was about me posting an Irish joke a couple of months back, even though the person who sent me the joke was Irish herself (relative). It's about setting current boundaries as of 2017, as I'm fairly adamant that it wasn't a rule-breaker in previous years. I also suggested bringing back the points / infractions system because that gave reasons on what the rule-breakers were.

I think there's been quite some change in the forum since I first joined. I'm fed up with the amount of sacred cows there are now, criticise some things and boom it's a delete. Disallowing criticism even if it's inarticulate, is the opposite of open mindedness. Yes I agree I don't enjoy mud slinging contests, but the premise of free speech is that, yes, your deepest beliefs could be criticised and you might get upset. That's life. No one has to agree with your beliefs or tip toe around them and likewise you to me. I know that my attitude is not one that is generally accepted by the forum and that's why I don't participate much anymore.

I don't think this is isolated to this forum but as has been said before the internet as a whole. This forum is fantastic though and has provided me with many hours of entertainment, I'll continue to peruse it occasionally.

Sorry that this was missed. I've brought it back up to the top of FCD so it should get picked up by someone soon (or me tomorrow if nobody has had a chance to before then).

The reason for poor quality threads is because of poor quality posters. I blame fidget spinners and young people being more lazy than those of yesteryear.

Mods are fine, on what other forum can you say "Maccy smells" and it be all cool?!

This forum is part of a computer parts shop! How exciting do you want it to be?

Some folk on here get away with murder if you ask me, if i was the mod they would have been down the road long ago :), also some mods in the past do not reply to emails but there you go.
