Orange/Battered chips are the most delicious chips in the world... but what's in the batter?

Has anyone seen them outside of the black Country?

I need to learn how to make them!

Ahhh mate, you're not wrong. There was a little place on Owen Street in Oldbury that my nan used to take me too. They really are incredible.

Definitely battered prior to being fried. I always thought that they had a hint of Paprika to them...

Nah defo battered, although I think the lard or fat or whatever they're cooked in helps the flavour.

Not sure if it is the same as potato wedges, doesn't taste the same... well not quite.

Where is your favourite Battered chippy?

I got 2, Manor Road by the Wednesbury Ikea, and Majors in Bilston :D

Not sure if it's still there (I moved from Oldbury around 7 years ago) but the Codfather on Brades Road, Oldbury did great orange chips.
Also the Chip & Whale on Dudley Road West (Tividale) did great fish & chips!

There used to be a place in Brownhills town center that did some amazing orange chips - don't live anywhere near it now so it's a bit of a trek to get to, but they were something else!

BEST CHIPPY IN THE WORLD. I love battered chips, and being from Willenhall I miss them so much now I don't live in an area that you can get them.

NOM NOM!!!!!

Majors is a quality chippy. Nothing like a portion of battered chips. Having moved to Manchester nothing even comes remotely close. :(
