PS4 Pro VS Xbox One X

I don't have a 4K tv, so can't even use that feature on my S, but the only way I'd get the X is if my S breaks or trade in values went up, I am getting a PS3 & PS4 long before I think about the X, the price of that console would get me a decent older generation computer/gaming laptop.

I plan on getting the One X on launch, gave up building Gaming PC's & bought myself a 17" IPS Gaming Laptop with 6700HQ 16GB of ram & a 970M early last year, mainly for photo & video editing & the odd gaming from my Steam library, this laptop will last me a good few year now for what i do with it.

I still have the Elite Console & a 4K Samsung TV with HDR, never bothered with the S as i was waiting for the One X before decided to get that or a PS4 Pro to use my TV to it's full potential in gaming.

With console hardware now getting close to a decent spec Gaming PC I see no need anymore for me at least to go splash the cash or an excuse to build another gaming rig in the future.

I play at 1080p so the Pro was a push in all honesty but there's tons of exclusives.

What can I play on this thing? Can't think of anything that I can't already do.

Was hoping devs would make use of the hardware to deliver 60fps in 3rd party titles but that isn't happening.

The Xbox X has pushed me back into PC gaming. Now we'll be getting Destiny 2, Monster Hunter, Crackdown etc, but with 60+ fps and freesync/gysnc, it's time to go back!

That's simply not true, you must be chucking them about.

I've had 6 Xbox One controllers, 2 DS4's , 4 360 controllers and they've all been rock solid. The 360 pad feels like a duplo toy when you go back to one after the X1 pad.

The DS4 feels the more fragile of the lot.

The DS3 were incredibly flimsy feeling and creaked constantly, yet still never broke.

Microsoft were very open about the extreme testing that the X1 pads go through, with a simulated 2 million button presses to identify any potential wear issues. Anyone that manages to break them is either very unlucky or extremely heavy handed.

I would say the DS4 is the better built controller, I replaced mine once in 3 years, and that was only due to the rubber sticks wearing down and after i replaced them out of warranty it was never the same.

My xbox pad has issue on the left stick, is feels rough when turning, the Elite pad the R1 button snapped and the rubber from the grips is peeling off, again out of warranty so have to either fix it, which i have done for the R1 and tried glue for the rubber which is peeling again.

The DS4 feels the slightly less robust controller to me, but it's by far and away the best iteration of the DS yet. They're both excellent controllers, I do prefer the One's feel though.

The only issue I have with the DS4 is the battery, it's absolutely woeful.

What sort of life span are you experiencing? I've not really had an issue with the battery life. But I'm not sure what is considered good, I have eneloop pro in my 360 pad on the PC, and I feel like I'm never having to charge those. But I'd never expect that of a consoles standard battery. I have 2 DS4 controllers, 1 plugged in charging, and 1 I use to play and I find myself rotating them every 2/3 days?

As for controller preference, I havent used an Xbox One controller yet, but as far as I was aware people generally rate it below the 360 controller, which I personally rate the DS4 over the 360 controller. It's about time I actually played on an Xbox One, But my PC kinda negates the need for one.

I'd say around 3-5 hours at best.

This is an original DS4 mind, no idea if the Pro or slim consoles come with a different revision of the pad?

I'm kind of thinking the same but I just know as November 7th gets closer and closer, the hype will build and I'll want one. I've not had a gaming PC for 10 years now and it would probably feel really weird going back to mouse/keyboard and a smaller monitor like a 28" 1440p. I suppose I'd get use to it in time.

As an xbox owner (two One S infact!),i wouldn't bother with the xbox unless you want to play it online with friends, and enjoy playing games currently on pc.

Its a shame the PlayStation controller doesn't feel as comfortable as xbox but that's down to the person. I've never had an issue with pad durability

That seems poor, I cant remember what I got on my original DS4, now have a pro version, but I sure think it was a lot longer than that, I can generally go 3-4 days without needing to charge of which I game for about 2-3hr at most each day.

That's still pretty janky when you think that the Xbone controller with its plug and charge pack can probably go for two weeks at 2-3 hr a day.

Get even longer if you use Eneloops.

even longer with Eneloops Pro :D

My ps4 pad lasted around 6hrs, Pad itself was built poorly, poor sticks and L2/R2

xbox pad running with Enelooops Pro will last me 48+hrs, but i'm using elite pad, not fair to compare them :D

EDIT:
When did a thread about ps4 vs xbox become a controller fight? ITS ALL ABOUT THE GAMES, Xbox Wins :) :) :)

I agree, the xbox pads battery is much better, I personally don't find the ps4 battery an issue though.

It is a shame you cannot switch off the light bar on the dualshock 4. A light even set to dim still eats up battery. Though, some games it is nice with as it changes colours to the game situations.

I don't know how long I get with the dualshock 4. It can be a nights worth of gaming... 4 - 6 hours on and off with 1 bar left. Even with the dualshock 4 idling. Though I remember the dualshock 3 lasting a lot longer.

Hope the X is as quiet as my S. The PsPro is another story sounds like a bloody jet engine playing HZD.

Is it really so loud? My standard makes quite a bit of noise in Horizon occasionally but it's bearable. I don't think I'll be upgrading to the Pro if it's much louder.

I generally find the build quality of the PS4 rather poor with its creaky plastic, more noise than I'd want etc. but the games make up for it so far. Leaves a bad impression, though.
