Wasn't there some sports commentator who got in trouble a while back for saying that same line on live television? Am surprised a politician thought it was a good idea.

On one had I've heard of people getting in trouble for using 'niggardly' which is just the result of knee jerk reactions from silly people. On the other hand a phrase that actually used the 'n' word, what was she thinking???

Ron Atkinson. Interesting word there. Prefer parsimonious myself.

"Contaminated blood scandal Inquiry Announced

A UK-wide inquiry will be held into the contaminated blood that left at least 2,400 people dead, the prime minister has confirmed.

A spokesman for Theresa May said it would establish the causes of the "appalling injustice" that took place in the 1970s and 1980s"

Call me cynical but I wonder what about the current situation - where Theresa May would relish attention being diverted from her chaotic administration - has prompted an enquiry that might make a favourite target of her party the subject of negative headlines.

I assume one means Labour, too bad inquiries take years or this would have been useful for them. Unless ofcourse she's given them every "tool" at the disposal to carry out the investigation, which would be much more problematic for her if she hasn't also done the same for Grenfell.

Wouldn't be surprised if she landed herself in it again.

we are now in a worse position than we were put in by Brown, who many people decry as having ruined the country.

No point in saying that. I've given up debating anything like this. They will come at with some lie or excuse like:

'the office for budget responsibility are clearly labour supporters'
'i always liked brown and most brexiters did'
'we never said he was bad just not good'
'this is fear mongering from the remoaners'
'we are only in a worse position than before because of the mess from labour'

And so on and so on. Pick one... Or more...
End of the day it's never the Tories fault. They are like a team of Mary Poppins'. Practically perfect in every way

You couldn't even make it up with the 'Strong and Stable' election slogan. She's come off awfully from this election farce while Corbyn actually seems to be liked now.
Yeah, Theresa May has made Corbyn more likely to be PM.

To the extent that anyone despises Corbyn, they need to hold May and the Conservatives in equal disdain for making that possible.

Well here's no surprise...

http://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/corbyn-i-never-promised-to-write-off-student-debt/ar-AAoEtDf

Jeremy Corbyn has insisted he did not promise to write off student debt as he campaigned for the youth vote in the general election.

So many students and current interns I spoke to we're adamant Corbyn was going to stop tuition fees and wipe the debts of those who already had loans - hopefully they are suitably embarrassed and remember how cynically and easily they were used for when the next election comes around. Of course I fully expect a round of "Oh I never believed that, I voted JC for purely non selfish reasons". ;-) He may not have specifically have said those words but certainly inferred it, did nothing to correct the inference and then profited from the assumption made by naive voters who sold their vote to him on the basis of "free money".

It was rather clear to me that Labour's pledge was to make all new tuition for 2017/2018 onwards free, they said barely anything about the 9000+ a year students, other than they would work something out.

But sure, keep posting ****.

/tbh dont even care, not an English student.

"Yes, there is a block of those that currently have a massive debt, and I’m looking at ways that we could reduce that, ameliorate that, lengthen the period of paying it off, or some other means of reducing that debt burden.............I don’t see why those that had the historical misfortune to be at university during the £9,000 period should be burdened excessively compared to those that went before or those that come after. I will deal with it.””

Thats what he actually said so you can imagine that, whilst you personally don't think they were talking about existing student debt, students may have thought that he was.

Then **** those students, whoever they are. If they are so naive to think Corbyn is a totally wholesome character, then they deserve this circus.

My my, don't you look a bit of a **** now? :D Perhaps reading the detail next time before you shoot your mouth, hopefully you're studying something with pictures.

Curruption? Inferred not implied?
Just a guess but the outrage here probably isn't from degree level students!

It's as genuine as the "honest" poor student who loves his zero hour contract.

One party has plans for students the other has none beyond endless debt.
