USB wall sockets

Oneplus 3 dash charger is rated at 4A

Dash charge is proprietary technology, as is Qualcomm's quickcharge. The only way you'd get a wall socket to work with either is if they're licensed from OnePlus or Qualcomm.

Standard USB will allow charging at upto 2.1A, whereas USB-C will support just over 3A I think.

USB-C tops out at 5A at 20V.

I considered USB charging but the tech seems to be constantly evolving with different fast charge methods and connector form-factor changes it felt like a bit of a waste of money.

This did cross my mind also, but in the bedroom I don't need fast-charging or anything fancy like that because things will be plugged in overnight. Also, the cost of them is so cheap that I'm not worried about other connector types in future, it's not as though I will have wasted loads of money on it.

Surely there are a huge number of devices that require (and will continue to require) bog standard USB power? Plus, switching a faceplate is easy so if new tech does come in down the line then easy enough to upgrade then. The convenience of USB sockets is so handy so I wouldn't put them off on upgrade grounds. :)

I've had an MK USB double socket fitted as part of my new kitchen. No complaints for me when using a USB>USB C cable for my Lumia 950 and Mipad 2.

Screwfix started stocking a few LAP 3A+ and 4A+ 2-gang sockets. I stuck with just 3.1A as they matched [visually] the existing 2.1A sockets I got about a year ago. Work fine so far. Actually found that many of my USB cables had high resistance so weren't able to provide the output required by devices such as my RPi3 under certain conditions.

I would definitely avoid BG, I've had a switch fail on one of mine (always on) and a friend has had a similar problem. He also had an issue where his consumer unit kept tripping (house is a year old), after unplugging everything it was still tripping, in the end he removed the BG faceplate and put the standard one back and it hasn't happened since. I'm tempted to remove mine too now and replace with something else.

Yeah those are the ones I would avoid/will be removing. I guess I should have realised when they were so cheap. :)

Tbf tooth how often do you quick charge **** vs just plugging it in white your doing other stuff/sleeping

I have usb sockets in my bedroom and charge my phone overnight - as tefal says quick charge is irrelevant for that. If I need to charge quickly then I'll use a proper plug.
