USB wall sockets

I find it annoying you can't turn them off. It wouldn't be that hard for the manufactures to mechanically rig it to not be powered when nothing is plugged in. I'm one of those people that can hear some chargers when there is no load on them. I wouldn't want one within a few metres where I'm sleeping. I bought from B&Q.

Exactly the same problem I have :(.

I fitted some in our bedroom and removed them a month later.

Hmm not good that they hum. I want to install one in our bedroom and definitely don’t want it humming! Anyone found a brand that doesn’t hum?

I bought a load of double sockets with 2 usb sockets from Wickes. £6 each, no humming whatsoever and I sleep right next to a socket. :)

They appear to have gone up in price to £9. but still a good buy :) My phone seems to charge quickly

Put your ear on it when there's nothing plugged in. Better, get a child to do it. If you can hear something, others with better hearing will be able to hear it from a few metres when its quiet.

I have 4 of the BG Usbeautiful 3.1A ones.
One in the kitchen, 1 in the front room, and one either side of our bed. I have never hear any of them buzz, even up close. They have some kind of smart/intelligence built in I believe.
This is from someone who heard a faulty LED GU10 buzzing from 2 rooms away, when the people in the room could hear nothing. :p

I suppose there is a limit to what you can do, and fit it in a 25mm back box.
Most people cant/wont change the back box for a simple socket change.
