Anyone care to explain what people are up in arms about, i'm seeing the BLM banners but not really sure it's quite as applicable in the UK. In the US fair enough they have been beating black people and other minorities from the get go and it's a 100% legitimate cause. In the UK whilst there is plenty of discrimination within the police force they are far better trained and generally a lot less ****.

But more to the point, surely pick your battles? Without jumping the gun so to speak, my assumption from reading around is this Rashan Charles was a scumbag dealer in grade A, police tried to apprehend him for being a scumbag dealer, he attempted to flee and like many dealers swallowed the wraps of heroin (or what ever drug it was) to A) conceal evidence, B) **** it out or puke it up later so he can continue being a scumbag dealer.

Now he probably died due to choking on these wraps whilst being apprehended after fleeing from the police. Just like the guy a few weeks ago Edson Da Costa whose death also sparked protests is very likely a dealer too who had swallowed packages whilst being apprehended by the police (likely died due to them too)

Surely there isn't anything to protest about here? surely there are better hills to die on other than what appears to be dealers and their own stupidity. If the BLM cause is something you believe in, surely these cases wont help that cause but the opposite.

Same as the last one and most of them, scumbag criminal chased by police and attempts to swallow evidence which is apparently police brutality to these idiots.
 
There are a lot of people who have made their minds up about what has happened based on that video, without any of the other context to the story or results of the investigation and post-mortem. It looks like a few of these people started a largely peaceful protest yesterday afternoon, but by the evening it got hijacked by the same types that rioted in 2011 and will likely use anything as an excuse to do so.
 
Because idiots with a chip on their should are gonna be idiots with a chip on their shoulder. They feel like the world owes them something for nothing and when they don't get their own way this is how they react.
In this case they don't feel like the laws that apply to the rest of us apply to them and that they should be free to commit crime without retribution.

Funny, that seems to describe a lot of Brexiteers who kept talking about 'direct action' and 'violence on the streets' if they didn't get their way and Brexit didn't go ahead

It is very, very simple. We have a very fragmented society that is at boiling point. We have had for a decade divisive politics of the divide and rule type, blaming the unemployed, sick, OAPs, young, Scots, Welsh, etc,etc,etc. Then there is the divide by the Ref. /North-South/Ireland. Politicians unable to do anything about a Crash recovery/engaging in ideological battles rather than looking after the country.

The country is so near a tipping point. Any innocuous event could prove to be the trigger that sends people out on the streets rioting. The above incident in itself is meaningless, people have a lot of anger that is looking for an outlet.
 
Probably overspill from the Grenfell fire. The inquest should tell us whether the guy died of stupidity or police brutality, pointless to GD about till then.

It really isn't simple, if you genuinely think this is country is very fragmented I suggest you research Australia NT & WA or parts of America. There was about 30 people max at that "riot" the Daily Mail never let small things like fact get in the way of a headline especially if its in London and has something to do with race.

Another excuse to be like #JusticeFor because some idiot....

People are starting to look for any excuse to play the victim it seems these days.... I'm not saying bad stuff doesn't happen but it's definitely something that has begun to trend in the last 5 years. I mean BLM banners in the UK? Come on now....
