Hi guys.

I'm currently running an ASUS X99-A motherboard which apparently has an M.2 socket 3 slot.

Can anyone recommend a really good M.2 drive to populate this space please. I'm looking for either a 500gb or a 1tb drive. I've looked at the Samsung 960 but they are really pricey. Is they anything just as good for less or are the Samsung's that price for a reason?

Thanks in advance!

Anything 500GB+ on m.2 will make you part with your wallet, it's just the nature of huge m.2 and SSD drives at the moment.

Yeah I'm thinking that seems to be the trend. Can you recommend anything other than Samsung or are they really the best at the moment please?

Corsair seem to do well with m.2 drives and imo look better if you can't hide it behind a gpu.

I'd go the way of looking at a smaller m.2 for Windows a bigger SSD for games and then a normal HDD for storage.

The WD black seems good. 5 year warranty to boot.

Performance is all a much of muchness outside benchmarks and specific workloads.
