Did the Barkley Spurs thing dry up? I haven't really kept track of them this transfer window.
These values (not that Liverpool have placed a value on Coutinho's head) are based on the prices of transfers that have been paid and what it would cost to sign a replacement. Utd have committed to spending £90m on Lukaku - nobody can argue that Coutinho or Dembele aren't better players/better prospects than Lukaku.
And then the other side of the coin we can't get rid of Barkley. A wake up call for the big time Charlie.

Attacking players in general cost more, not specifically strikers. Coutinho scored or assisted 20 goals last season in 2/3's of the game time that Lukaku played and that was from a midfield/attacking midfield position. You think if Hazard was available he wouldn't be worth much more than Lukaku because he didn't score as many?I don't think that's a fair comparison, goals always cost more money. Look at the worth you got for anyone of your forwards that got 20 plus league goals, so far in the EPL Torres and Suarez? Imagine what 20 year old Owen would command now and he never got 20.
I'm not a huge Lukaku fan but he's worth more than Coutinho to most of the top 4 looking for goals. Clubs pay a premium for goals.
I don't know of any surgeons or fireman who have millions of people across the world watching them working or who have image rights etc. I agree that the values are crazy but the concept isn't difficult to grasp.
I meant it from a point of view that a Surgeon or Fireman saves peoples lives and such a thing should be valued highly, whereas a footballer basically just bangs a model and kicks a piece of leather around. IMO no footballer is worth 200m, but a top surgeon capable of saving thousands of lives by being able to perform an immensely difficult operation makes more sense to be valuable. Crikey, its just a footballer for heavens sake! It is, unrefutably , bonkers.
There is maybe ten at most people in the world that can do what Neymar can do. And he brings in an immense amount of income to his owner. There is a lot of people that can be a fireman. Lives have value sure but a lot of people can save them. If there was a surgeon that had the skills that only a few people in the world had then he would have immense value to the right people. Why is £200m any more bonkers than £10m? To most people they're equally ridiculous sums of money that are well beyond what they will have available to them.
Well, I'll just leave this line of conversation here I think, I'm obviously the only one who thinks there is something wrong with a man who plays football being valued as worth 200m, that so many are ok with it probably says something about the state of football but thats a topic for another conversation, so not much point in continuing this conversational line. Back to the football news.
FSG have announced that they'll consider a huge offer for Coutinho, despite the managers wishes:

LOL if true shows how over confident they were. They are having a terrible transfer window it's funnyHahahaha
Barca having to cancel their unveiling, if that's true it's ******* amazing.
