Coming back to PC Gaming

http://www.coolermaster.com/case/mini-tower/masterbox-lite-3-1/

Check that one out ^. Available for £40. Doesn't come with led fans as in the demo pics. Wife can pick out the trim colour she likes.

The footprint area is smaller than the 240 Air. 456x208 = 94,848mm squared v 397x260 = 103,220mm squared.

Nice find Danny.

YouTube clip that shows it off 360 and get a better idea of aesthetics. Looks classy for £40.

EDIT: You need to rewind clip to start for full 360.

I'm on my phone:

If you push to 16Gb you could get the Team Group Vulcan at £120 - work out £25 cheaper and would hit 3000MHz. Although may not match as well with your motherboard re: case window.

Wouldn't bother me too much as where I'm putting the case, the window may be blocked
Your final spec looks pretty impressive considering what you started out with - you now have:
  • Ryzen 1500X (great CPU for the money)
  • Quality Motherboard
  • 16Gb Memory
  • GTX 1060 6GB (great price)
  • Plus a quality case (thanks to @Danny75 noticing the case fitting issue)
The 16Gb of memory although more than you budgeted for will compliment the build nicely and you have a mighty little bundle all packed in a cool case (one of my favourite designs for M-ATX you won't be disappointed).

You seem to good to go...

On many occasions, speccing a system reminds me of that story about the "Soup fit for a king", where a traveler asks if he can stay the night at someone's house in exchange for them cooking a cheap soup fit for a king. Then when he starts cooking, he keeps mentioning, "Of course, it would be even better with this or that ingredient," and the ingredient is added on, and then another, and another, until it's actually not a cheap soup at all. But hey, they did get soup fit for a king.

Prices being what they are today, it's better to spend a bit above anyway, to be covered performance-wise for a few years.

100% agreed

Know my budget to start with was on the low side for what I wanted and pushing to what we have is more than I originally wanted to spend but gets me a system from the start that I'll be happy with and will not worry about upgrading too soon

Thanks guys

Thanks guys

No worries - best of luck with the build.

Be sure to flash the BIOS straight away - using Q flash and a Fat 32 formatted USB drive. Post back when you begin the build if you're unsure...

Hehe - an apt analogy - not thought about that story in a few years (read loads of stories to the kids over the years - always searching for new ones. Reading my youngest The Alchemist at the moment - totally mesmerized).

Hmmm Cream of chicken soup.

Did we catch you when you were hungry Micky? :)

And that soup has a unique smell on opening if you're talking about canned. Open at arms length...

...into a bin :D

Then get a can of tomato soup and some single cream - with a mature cheese sandwich.

Cheers everyone, all the parts came yesterday so got the build done last night and then OS install today

First PC build for a few years so once I got past the initial 'oh crap i cant remember' - things went well and pretty tidy build.
Corsair case is amazing; so easy to use and keep tidy

In the end went with;

Corsair Carbide Air 240
AMD Ryzen 5 1600
Geil Evo X 16GB PC4-24000
Gigabyte GA-AB350M-Gaming 3 Mobo
120GB Kingston SSD
2TB Seagate
Zoteac GeForce GTX 1060 6144MB GFX
550W Corsair PSU
Win10 Home

Very happy, all set up and no problems. Impressive windows performance....need to try on some games later if I can get one

Already wondering what to do next for upgrade haha
