If the new one does not include Touch ID I won't get it no matter how nice the phone looks.

You think they'd ditch this? It's one of the best things about the phone.

Anyway, I rather like the new design:

It's looking beautiful, as always. But if that rumour of $1200 is true, for the base model, then I'll have to rethink.

I could just about stomach £1000 but beyond that is a hard sell

I'd be very surprised if the base model was that expensive, it would price out a number of people (even if it was still ultimately affordable especially on a monthly contract).

I could see the 256GB model being over £1000 though, it's close as it is...

I reckon they will have it as a halo product.

iPhone 8 (or whatever they choose to call it) @ £1000+
iPhone 7S @ normal iPhone prices
iPhone SE (updated with 6S or 7 guts) @ current SE prices.

That does look nice indeed, but once again, another bevel-less phone, form over function. I personally find bezel-less phones (I am an S7E owner) an absolute pain in the arse to use, accidental touches are still a problem and they are difficult to hold and use unless you have claw hands. A bit of bezel is necessary for good ergonomics.

Agree with the others, that does look good. Whether it's worth £1000 though, hmmm, that'll have to wait.

Touch ID being removed would suck, I don't want to go back to entering a passcode everytime.

what's this 'they're going to remove touch id' nonsense? Where's that coming from? i can't imagine for a second that apple are going to regress to the pre iphone 5s days of forcing people to enter a passcode every time. It's not going to happen...no way. Even if it's not touch id specifically, surely...surely apple won't force a 6 digit unlock pin every time on such a premium flagship piece of kit!

You wont be forced to go back to a pin, Apple are not going to remove it without an alternative.

Rumours state 7S will retain TouchID, but the 8/X will have 3D face unlocking instead of TouchID since they were unable to get touch id in the display working up to par.

I hope rumours are wrong and touchid remains but its looking like it might just be true.

I have to agree. Apple wouldn't be stupid enough to do that, surely.

The points about there being a 7S and an 8 are interesting though, I could see that happening maybe...

I agree, I like the bezels around the phone. Might look at the 7s plus if that gets a decent spec/camera bump from last year.

I am a sucker for iphones, and they are horribly expensive over here. There is no option for a contract so I have to buy the phone outright.

My Iphone 7 plus (256) cost me about 1100 GBP.

I usually upgrade every couple of years, and I keep on telling myself that I should just go and buy one from the US and the UK when I travel, but.....I get lazy and never do.

Will I get the 8? Would love to, but it would meaning ditching my current model after only a year. If I can get a good trade in value for it, I will consider though.
