Cromer, seaside town in Norfolk, put on 'lockdown' after 'low-level disorder'

It's still a derogatory word for a traveller, much like there are derogative words for different sexualities and races. Your distinction misses the point - it remains an insulting word to describe a group of people. The lifestyle choice of being a traveller is irrelevant.

I've used it pretty clumsily in the past having picked it up from the film Snatch (as I'm sure most people have). I actually know of someone that's been called up for using it at his workplace. Best used with caution in certain social groups, for sure.

Really? I never knew it was derogatory. Guess that's a lesson learned then.

Hmm, ok. If a family raises children to be Nazi's then is it alright to attack the children for something they had no choice in?

That's a great defence lads.

Exactly I was highlighting the double standards,

And why should those who obey the law of the land have to put up with it?

I never said we should

I was just stating kids are a product of their environment. If you are bought up in the life where their parents teach them that moving in to public parks, leaving literal crap on the group and stealing and not paying tax is fine, then that kid never really had a choice in their lifestyle.

I agree ban Sharia courts let's end it, those who obey the law of land shouldn't have to put up with it.

lolwut ???

Sharia law has no legal standing in the UK, it is only used as an arbitration mechanism under the agreement of both parties. Think of it like ACAS.

If you are talking about outside the UK, then that's none of our business.

Hah, I thought this thread had just got shorter, seems we've a mod doing some cleaning up in aisle 3 - as the perjorative term we were discussing, is now a banned perjorative term :p

I never quoted it though :(.

Anyway, i assume this has been swept under the rug, mustn't agitate people, not enough police to control an actual situation after all.

Oh well. I used to love that word and tbh it's been my go to low level insult since age 8.

Calling my sister it lol.

Sad days.

Travelling Irish gypsy horse loving thieves it is then.
