What PC games are you playing?

Playing Quake 4 for the first time and just got caught by the aliens and put through 'the procedure' - wow! Totally wasn't expecting that! Classy stuff!

I actually think Q4 is a fairly decent fps; sure, there are some design decisions which I didn't care for too much, but all in all, I enjoyed it quite a bit. The part you mention is a pretty interesting segment of the game. :)

Was tempted to buy Battlefield 1, then discovered Origin Access. So I have paid up for a year to see what its like. So currently playing Battlefield 1 and have also downloaded Battlefront. £20 a years seems a bargain but I guess that depends how many games gets added to the current vault of games.

I agree, I think it's brilliant value and I just pay the £3.99 monthly subscription. And you're right about the dependency on how many games in the vault you haven't played before but when they're adding there latest games such as Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2 then that's hard to beat. Particularly if, like me, you're only interested in the single player campaigns but wouldn't be buying the full games just to play the campaigns that are too short to justify the spend.

Outlast and its a pile of **** so far :(

I bought it after seeing amazing reviews and it sounded like it was right up my street, but an hour or so in and I can't see why it has the reviews it does. The game constantly reminds you its just a game with the copy pasted empty rooms, devoid of any interaction. The enemies just look immersion breakingly bad. Gameplay consists of waiting till an enemy passes before sneaking past them, which feels like its been done to death now. Alien isolation nailed that mechanic, but this just feels like a bad copy in comparison.

I don't generally get scared when playing games, but I do appreciate the atmosphere and tension in horror games, but so far this has neither. Just the odd jump scare here and there. Maybe i'm just not in the right mood so will give it another try, but think it's going to be yet another for the 'indie rubbish' category in my steam list.

Outlast was and remains very over rated. Anytime I see praise for it I think I must have played a different game. It was 4 hours long but felt like 10-12. Terrible deliberate padding and back tracking for the sake of dragging the timer out a bit.

I'll admit the start felt good, I liked the visual style of using the camera.

But after the first jump scare or 2 it was all so predictable. You could just cheese the a.i. and that broke any attempt of fear so altogether

Almost done with Alpha Protocol and I really struggle to understand why this got so critically mauled. I've had a really good time with it finding it much more fun than the original Mass Effect with a conversation system that actually has an impact upon the story and consequences to your actions. The cover system may be a bit basic, and enemy AI is occasionally wonky.....and having to change controls to KB&M every time I need to pick a lock is a little annoying....but on balance this one doesn't seem to deserve the hate. I can't believe Jim Sterling gave it a 2/10 when he reviewed it for Destructoid.

Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 and really enjoying it, sad that it had a duff review when it first came out but now it's patched it's an excellent game and way more fun than Sniper Elite

Playing Prey and of course still playing The Division. I am loving the 1.7 update to Divi div div.

Did you ever play the original Prey a fair few years back? If so, is the new one a good follow up or is this just a complete rehash and new story etc?

Just wondering if its worth grabbing it on a Steam sale.

Cheers

Bioshock Remastered :p

Started the 2nd one now, whos the daddy! :D
Beat me to it - had to leave my computer and go back home to Belfast due to a serious illness in the family. Was just going in to tackle Ryan before I left. I just realised that there was DLC for Bioshock 2 before I left - absolutely delighted there is more Bioshock that I've never played before so I'll be heading to Minerva's Den when I get back!

I did play the original Prey and this is a completely different game. I'm enjoying so far. I have 30 hours. It reminds me of Stalker but in space. Loads of upgrades and weapon mods to play with.

I never played the original Prey but I understand that its neither a follow up nor rehash - it's a completely different game where similarities stop with the title.

It is a great game though, probably my favourite game that's actually been released this year.

I just need to stop playing Dawn of War 2 Retribution and The Binding of Isaac Afterbirth and play the many 100's of games on the Steam list. Built a beast of a gaming machine to replace my dying 4790k rig and I play those two games continuously, I needn't have bothered in all honesty xD

Wolfenstein (2009)

I have been a fair way into this a couple of times over the years but I forgot to save when I had to reinstall  This time however I am determined to finish it and get onto the next one.

Dishonoured. On Steam for the princely sum of £1.99.

Not played it before and even my 480 can run it at 4K so thought it worth a punt.
