I rarely fly, but of course, I have FAR more confidence in a plane's build quality, technical specifications, and servicing than that of a road car. So you seem to be suggesting these autonomous cars will be built and maintained to the same standards as commercial aircraft? Could you hazard a guess as to how much these things will cost?

No your correct but have you seen Google's, Tesla's and Uber's figures on its cars that are involved in accidents? Only a tiny proportion are their fault.....

But you will find that most planes that crash are down to human error the vast majority of the time and not technical. Humans make mistakes all the time, computers rarely do.

Cars are relatively simple machines compared to planes. A simple M.O.T costs what? £40? A Service, £100? maybe £150 (depends on the make model) so lets say £200 to ensure the car is road worthy. I learned my trade in the R.A.F. working on fast jets. I know what it entails to service these jets as I've done it. I've also had my cars serviced many times over the decades. There is no legitimate comparison between the two, it's false equivalency. I find it hypocritical that you are ok with automation in planes but not cars. :confused:

Not unusual, most motorway junctions are CCTV'd (just made that word up, can you tell?) to the hilt to allow for monitoring of traffic flows and...accidents.

It can do better than that. It can read the number plate and identify every single car on the road and already has a profile built up of the characteristics of that driver. Based on actual data of every time that driver has encountered any self-driving car (because they share this data) and not from some sweeping generalization based on the look of the driver.

Exactly the same method all cars have now? Have you never wondered why you havn't had to replace a throttle cable recently?
 
So what actually happened ?

First lorry stopped in lane 1, minibus stop/slow down behind it and second lorry ploughed in to them both ?
 
Vague mentions of the truck stopped in lane 1, minibus didn't expect anything to be stopped there, swerved to avoid it and ended up getting hit by the other truck.
 
Yes, I wonder if the one who was drinking is getting all the attention when it might have been the other one stopped in lane 1 who actually caused the whole thing!

The one who had been drinking is the guy who was stopped in lane 1.
 
I think it was the Polish "drunk driver" who had stopped. That's why he's the one in court and remanded.
