Games you want to Replay but Don't want to Because...

Alien Isolation...best gaming experience i've had in the last ten years or so, my nerves just can't handle it though. To the point I finished the game and haven't done a single one of the DLC's despite Alien being my favourite movie of all time.

- I meant to replay Witcher 2 to take the Roche path but never got around to it.
- I'd like to replay Witcher 3 but just can't put that sort of time in again, plus as someone mentioned in the Witcher thread, you end up skipping dialogue from impatience.
- I want to replay Deus Ex : HR now there's a director's cut. MD was a massive disappointment to me and I gave up a few missions in so replaying HR is an obvious choice.

I struggle to replay games like the Final Fantasy series because of the need for grinding combat to level up, it's okay to do the first time through the game because I'm pushing through for the story.
When I know what's coming and the amount I need to grind for a certain point in the game, it starts to feel like more of a draining task.
That puts me off going back to FFVII a little. I remember spending a long time breeding Chocobos, and also putting many, many hours into keeping triggering the Alarm enemies to grind xp.

Final Fantasy 7 - Loved that game played it a few times all the way through, now it's the overly long cut scenes that put me off (although, having said that I've recently installed the HD mod and it has resparked my interest but I struggle going back to it regularly)

Yep, this game and the random battle grind.

If you would have started on the single player you would have probably liked it. The multiplayer is rubbish imo. Just a load of boring missions and races or free roam deathmatch that gets boring after a couple of hours. GTA is all about the story driven single player for me, then if you still crave for that sandbox deathmatch fun after that then move to the multiplayer. Plus exploring the world is much more fun when you do it as part of the main story and not just jump in the fastest sports car and drive around the entire map in a few minutes. At least for me anyway.
+1 - Trevor has made me laugh so many times. :D

I hope they invent some kind of memory wipe machine in the future. I want to play so many games again but they're just not the same when you know the story and when things happen :D

Even after not playing some games for 10 years I still remember what happens.

A fine example - love the game, but I hate the really tedious parts, such as the Kalm flashbacks or the 'Finding Clouds memories' part. Those just make me feel really disinterested to replaying.

Sounds like FFVIII would be perfect for you with it's complete lack of grind required due to the level scaling dynamic.

I recently replayed Final Fantasy X and it was not as good as I remembered in terms of gameplay. The whole game is on rails, there is no world map like old Final Fantasy games and the battle system is dumbed down vs FF7. Yet I recall really enjoying it when I played it on release. Still a good game, but it has gone down the list of my favourite FF games.

I have always enjoyed going back and playing games like Final Fantasy 7, Deus Ex and Resident Evil. Never get bored revisiting them every few years. But some games need to be left as a memory it seems.

I hope they do not dumb down things too much in the Final Fantasy 7 remake.

I do enjoy FFX but it's really let down by the sphere grid. It's just so incredibly tedious to go through node by node with each character. It needs some kind of auto-level function.

and the battle system is dumbed down vs FF7. .

If I recall correctly it was much faster and allowed on the fly switching of characters...generally I thought it was an aspect of X (and especially X-2!) that was lauded.

I am not a fan of the node system either. FF7 system is much better imo.

I liked the on the fly switching also. But it is not a big deal to me compared with how much fun the whole system worked in Final Fantasy 7. I enjoyed tweaking my characters with materia a lot, buying weapons/armour with Gil was much more fun vs FFX.

I also preferred the summons compared to how aeons worked.

Nice try, you're not getting away with it again. You know memory wipe already exists, you use it every week & always say "I don't recall ordering this!". Now, cough up as the job's done :p

Well my memory is so bad I forget nearly everything of a game/movie after a couple of years. Means I can replay games multiple times and get to experience things over and over again. Some say I'm blessed.....

Lol :)

My huge backlog is the main reason I don't get around to replaying the (many) games I'd like to! Maybe when I retire I'll be sufficiently caught up...

To those who are mentioning the grind as a reason not to replay Final Fantasy games, don't forget that the cheats on modern ports can significantly reduce that - I played VII, IX and X for the first time this year and completed all of the stories without feeling bogged down in grinding thanks in part to using the fast-forward function in many random battles later on. If you're just wanting to re-experience the story, the cheats could be a real help :)

I'm pretty terrible these days as well. It's why I have to binge on Netflix series. If I have to wait several months for another series, I've forgotten what happened previously and have to watch it all again. :D

The whole Chocobo breeding thing was so tedious in FFVII, especially if you don't read walk-through guides.
I also lost track of how long I spent at Gold Saucer grinding for the rewards, probably spent the best part of an entire week doing that...

I do like the scaling system for encounters as it makes the game a bit more of a challenge as you level up... not keen on being able to roll over everything.
Not overly keen on the character personalities and the way the story brushes over some of the major segments... though saying that, FFIX is my favourite in the series and that game has the same issues with the events being forgotten/brushed off too quickly.
