Mass Shooting in Las Vegas

RIP :(. I bet the gun lovers will be saying this would have been wrapped up in a few seconds if everyone at the concert was armed .

Asian female they are looking for I'm assuming is (I can't think of the correct term) oriental Asian as I remember reading Asian in the UK and US differ?

People here do know that fully automatic weapons are banned in the USA? or do they just come to the last page and make themselves look silly?

Whilst true I don't think it really matters? Assault rifle on semi automatic or automatic still can equate to a massive loss of life fairly easily and quickly.

The main feeling is the ease of ownership regardless of firing mode.

Tragic as this undoubtedly is it is hardly news. Data compiled by the Gun Violence Archive reveals a shocking human toll: there is a mass shooting – defined as four or more people shot in one incident, not including the shooter – on five out of every six days, on average. There were 372 mass shootings in the US in 2015, killing 475 people and wounding 1,870, it is what Americans do.

The only major surprise is that Trump hasn't yet blamed Muslims.

But it's not easy to go a buy a smi auto as it comes under federal law not local law.

Fair few legacy aspects to that and it isn't impossible to get around - I know a guy in Pennsylvania with an arsenal a small country would be proud of including several legally held fully automatic ARs.

It's completely pointless debating American gun laws, you're more likely to change the laws of physics than the right to bear arms.

Yes. But the guns would to be registered under the National Firearms Act in Pennsylvania. And they need to be pre 1986 weapons.

f anyone wasn't aware, fully automatic weapons are banned in the USA.

The only way to get access to them is to jump through many hoops and checks upon checks and a ton of money, a real ton of money to finally buy one.

CONFIRMED: One suspect down

fully automatic weapons have never been illegal for civilians to own, it's just they banned the manufacture of new automatic weapons for civilian sale/transfer since 1986, so any gun manufactured and then registered before then can still be transferred on the used market, with a hefty premium of course due to the now finite supply. registered firearms dealers can still obtain new manufactured automatic weapons but they can only be transferred between licensed dealers and never sold to the general public.

so whoever was behind the shooting either has a lot of money, or has owned his fully automatic weapon since before 1986 (and the subsequent price hikes), although it's equally possible he's illegally modified a semi automatic version into fully automatic (whilst that's no mean feat it is possible, in the same way manufacturing an entire gun yourself is also possible)

that said, semi automatic weapons are far less regulated and relatively easy to come across (state dependant), and semi automatic is still extremely effective both in military and civilian contexts.

it does of course go without saying that this kind of thing would be considerably more difficult with stricter firearm control as seen in (insert european country here)
