Mass Shooting in Las Vegas

Time for America to wake up, trump is spurting out a load of crap as usual.

I wish people who govern US Law would grow a backbone and tighten things up.

Look, America isn't the UK, it has vast borders, it is geographically 40 times larger than the UK and has more guns than people. A large portion of those people would be willing to fight for in order to keep their guns. Any attack on their ability to own a gun is perceived as an effort to de-arm the population in order to enslave them. They literally think that. There's nothing you can tighten up that will stop anyone in America getting a gun who wants one.

Whole thing just makes no sense.... some guy who owns planes (pretty successful obviously....), 64 years old, worked for well known company. What all of a sudden went wrong in his head?

why do you think it went wrong all of a sudden? he could have been ill for decades.

The way you are trying to twist it into a left-wing trump hating individual is pretty lame and says more about you then it does about the true identity and motivation of the killer

I'm not trying to twist it, I grant you that I'm making some assumptions, but was it was a country music festival. It's just extremely sad that the media narrative over the last 8 months could have paved the way for something like this

of course, there is, it would take many decades but weapons can be destroyed when found and it'll slowly get harder and harder to get hold of them. There's no fast solution, but ignoring it means it will never improve.

I still going with an attack against Trump provoked by the so-called left. All about distaction and keeping the gun debate in the public conscience.

True, but there will have been a snap point. Many ill people don't progress to level of opening fire on random concert. Also, people who are potentially capable of something so extreme are under strict supervision by community nurses psychiatrists etc etc. It's quite obvious they represent a danger to others.

Unless he was known to be a danger, but obviously all details are not released yet.

so why did no one go insane over the assult rifle ban?

you don't have to do it instantly.

maybe one year you legislate no semi auto rifles everything has to be bolt action or straight pull for new sales existing guns grandfathered (this makes them very expensive and takes them out of the hands of many nutters)

few years later maybe you limit the capacity of magazines leggaly for sale to say 20 rounds off less.

few years later maybe you require a pistol to be of a certain barrel length making them impractical for daily carry again except for exiting ones.

maybe you make it so people have to pay for thier own FbI background checks before buying a gun at say a cost of 2k a time?

slowly over decades existing guns drop out due to wear and game and lack of so are parts and become more and more expensive collector items

yes there will be push back at each stage but lots of small laws that are reasonable like the adult rifle ban are very hard to argue against publicly.

but thwyre not under supervision orders because many of them will never have had dealing with any health agency.

they will have jist quietly handled thier condition till eventually they couldnt.

.
so if he's dumb its a political agenda if he's smart its a political agenda.

.might it be possible here that you are trying to make things fit a conclusion you have already come to?

I didn't say that, obviously anyone who is wound up enough is capable of anything. What I was saying about the low reasoning skills was perhaps that lends itself to violence more easily.

Regarding the political agenda, has this not been classed as terrorism though?

The dead bodies are still warm and you're trying to politicise this horrific event, you should be ashamed of yourself

No, sorry, I don't feel ashamed of myself, it looks like you are getting wound up at me over something which I'm trying to understand. If we hear more information and the truth regarding the motivation for this, I'll happily change my view. Since I was in the mode of understanding why this happened, my posts are just my research and thoughts on the topic, there's no push for a political agenda. I'm just linking stuff together and posting a view, if you don't agree with that view, that's fine. Lambasting me as some sort of sub human scum for understanding what's happened is just childish, similar to your Nazi website comment.

Different effect?

I'm no expert but machine guns are designed to have a certain amount of innacuracy so they produce a big cone of fire on the target.

a rifle is less effective for soemthing like this as you end up putting lots of bullets in the same 1 square foot while a machine gun would be covering a much bigger area so hitting more targets.

yes you did you said he was stupid so was tricked by the media into killing trump supporters.

then you said he's smart so clearly doing it to attack a political target.
and no as far as I know it's not classed as anything other than a mass shooting ad they have found no reason yet

So if it was what you think (no one knows yet though), why is it necessarily the "media narrative's" fault and not Trump's hugely amateur and divisive presidency? You can spin it either way.

This is the crux of the problem we have. People have to put the blame on one group of people when the reality is, there are a handful (thankfully) of sick and mentally ill people all over the world of all creeds, colours and beliefs who will end up committing atrocities like this. Sure, often they seem to justify their actions based on some warped ideology, but it is stupid to think that this is anything other than an already deeply troubled mind twisting and contorting an idea in their head to help justify their heinous actions (be it a religion, political group, racial ideology etc)

indeed.

it's gonns be like Virginia tech or that guy who shot up the cinema.

we never really know why and by the time they have a working theory we've all lost interest.

I would like to point out there are many sane people who do ****** up **** like this to.

because otherwise I can see this going down the usual vilifying mental health route
